As we come to the end of Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, a campaign run every year throughout May by the British Veterinary Nursing Association, we wanted to say a huge 🌟Thank You🌟to our wonderful team of nurses for everything they do at Wendover Park Equine Vets.

There isn’t much they don’t do or get involved with, both at the practice and out on the road, sharing their extensive skills, knowledge and experience to deliver the best care to our clients and their beloved horses and ponies.

🌟So what do our Veterinary Nurses do?

🐴 Care for your horses when they come in for procedures & operations
🐴 Nurse them when they are unwell
🐴 Administer medications
🐴 Assist with feeding/nutrition
🐴 Set up and administer intravenous fluids and insert intravenous catheters
🐴 On call out of hours duties
🐴 Take blood samples
🐴 Run laboratory tests
🐴 Prepare and assist with all diagnostic and surgical procedures
🐴 Monitor and recover horses from sedation and anaesthesia
🐴 Perform nurse clinics and weigh bridge sessions
🐴 Process repeat prescriptions
🐴 Assist with end of life care

🧠Today some of our Wendover Park Equine Vets & Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre team had a training day delivered by Andy from Purple Story - who was absolutely fantastic!

👓 The team all undertake a great deal of clinical education each year, but we all know that communication & ‘people’ skills are just as important.

🙌 Although our team get on really well, we are always looking at areas to improve and this was a suggested topic.

🌈 The day covered communication and how personality types & different generations interact. It was fascinating!

⭐ Andy had a real impact and going forwards we will all reconsider how we do things and how we interact with each other.

☺️His energy and the huge amount of insight & passion he brought into the day left us all feeling motivated, empowered, and ready to deliver brilliant care to our patients, our clients & each other, together.

✨The rest of the team will have Andy & his wisdom in a few weeks time!
