🦖Today was my first session with Rex 🦖

🤺Rex is 8 months old and has started showing signs of reactivity.

Adolescence is tough on male rotties, as they start to become more motivated by information about other dogs, breed traits are starting to appear - typically that can mean that they take any confrontation seriously and as much as they stare at other dogs woe betide any dog do it back!!! Chuck in some hormones and fear periods and it all starts getting too much! (Yes, I speak from experience!)

🥰Rex did really well and is a very soft and friendly character, who even came to show me a doll he’d found!

🐾Gunnar can be reactive to other dogs and easily stresses about his environment.

🐕‍🦺This is his second session and we started an exercise where we crossed paths… only Gunnar wanted to do something different! Gunnar just wanted to chill and sniff so we let him and Bella just chill and mooch around together!

🐄This is the first time Rafa has seen cows.

🐑🏇🏻We’ve also made sure that Rafa is seeing horses and sheep on a regular basis.

This will be a regular occurrence during his adolescence.

If you have a puppy or are thinking of getting a puppy and you want an adult dog who is livestock proof remember that you will have to make it happen and it’s a process, not a 1 off experience!

🐾When I first met Bentley he was very dog reactive, he reacted to triggers in his environment and when we were in the field he was incredibly stressed and unable to engage.

🪄✨One musculoskeletal assessment from Claire Lawrence and a trip to Chapelfield vets for an examination and pain relief and the difference is like night and day.

🧘‍♀️Bentley is so much calmer, his reactions are smaller, he recovers from reactions.

🐕‍🦺Treating pain in dogs isn’t just about making a difference for the dog. It makes a huge difference for owners too.
