Ready for your puppy to go back to school? 🐶🎒

September is just around the corner, and our next 6-week Puppy Class starts on Tuesday 8th September at Singleton Village Hall.

Puppy class isn’t about creating a perfect puppy. It’s about giving you the knowledge and skills to help your puppy navigate everyday life with confidence.

Over six weeks, we’ll work on the foundations that really matter:

🐾 Recall
🐾 Loose lead walking
🐾 Settling and learning to switch off
🐾 Focus around distractions
🐾 Building confidence around dogs, people and new experiences
🐾 Understanding how your puppy learns

And we’ll practise these skills around real-life distractions, because that’s where they really need to work.

Our classes are taught using kind, reward-based training, with a focus on helping you understand your puppy as well as teaching them what to do.

If you’ve got a new puppy and want to get their training off to a great start, we’d love to have you join us.

It’s interntional Dog Day! 🐾❤️

Here at InvictaDogs, every day is dog day, but today gives us the perfect excuse to celebrate just how wonderful our dogs are!

Dogs deserve our love, time, patience and affection. Some need a little more support through struggles or behavioural challenges, and that’s okay. Every dog is different—and isn’t that part of the joy of them?

So today, give your dog an extra big kiss, enjoy a short sniffy walk, have some fun training, or simply spend some time doing what they love most.

And because we want to share the love, post a photo of your beloved pooch in the comments! 📸

Here’s my beautiful boys showcasing the joy they bring to our lives.

Happy National Dog Day!

Loose lead walking is about so much more than walking nicely beside you 🐾

In puppy class, we don’t just practise walking in a straight line with nothing going on around us.

We want our puppies to learn that other dogs, people and activity can be part of the environment without needing to become the main event 💜

In this session, you’ll see our puppies practising loose lead walking together while other puppies and their handlers are working around the outside of the area.

That gives us two really important learning opportunities.

🐶 For the puppies doing the walking, they’re learning to stay connected with their handler and keep moving despite the distractions around them.

🐶 For the puppies waiting on the outside, they’re learning that they don’t have to react, stare or rush over every time another dog walks past.

That ability to calmly notice what’s happening around them and then carry on is something we call neutrality, and it’s an incredibly useful life skill.

Because in the real world, you’re going to meet dogs on walks. You’ll pass people. Someone might stop to chat. Another dog might walk past. There will be distractions everywhere.

We’re not trying to teach puppies to ignore the world.

We’re teaching them how to notice it without feeling like they have to get involved in everything.

And that’s the kind of foundation that makes those future walks so much easier. 🐾

This is why we love working on real-life skills in puppy class, not just practising behaviours in isolation.

We kicked off our new round if juniors class today. A class of adolescents only, we worked through engagement, impulse control exercises and the basics for our all important loose lead walking.

Adolescence can be a tricky time for dogs and owners. Boundaries and training need to be revisited and sometimes it can feel like your dog has completely forgotten all their previous skills. Getting support through group classes or 121s can be a real game changer. I'm excited to see how these guys all mature in the coming weeks.

Say hello to Maisy, Diesel, Onyx, Kit, Otis and Willow

And now it’s time to celebrate our puppy graduates! 🐾🎓

This lovely group has officially completed their puppy course, and what a journey it’s been. 🤎

With the extreme summer temperatures, we had to make a few alterations to the course, including a couple of cancellations, but the welfare of the puppies always comes first. But we got there in the end and last night they all smashed their graduation.

Over the course of their training, they’ve been building those all-important foundations, including:

🐾 Recall
🐾 Loose lead walking
🐾 Settle work
🐾 Focus and engagement
🐾 Confidence around distractions
🐾 Learning how to make good choices

But puppy class isn’t just about teaching behaviours.

It’s about helping owners understand their puppies, building a relationship based on trust and communication, and giving these youngsters the skills they need to navigate everyday life.

And that’s what makes graduation day so special. Seeing those little moments of progress add up over the weeks and watching puppies and their humans grow in confidence together. 🐶

A huge well done to all of our puppy graduates and their handlers. You’ve worked hard, adapted when needed and kept going.

We’re so proud of you all and can’t wait to see what comes next 💜

A big well done to Nellie, Bombur, Maggie and Toffee.

Out of office!

I'm taking a little break this week, so I'll be away from messages and enquiries while I recharge (and spend some quality time with my own dogs! ).

I'll be back and responding to everyone from next week.

Thank you for your patience and have a lovely week!

Another Graduation day!

Early start for our level 1 Gundogs this morning to smash their last class. They have also been super patient with rescheduling due to this god forsaken weather.

Today they covered heelwork, marked retrieves, memory retrieves and steadiness. A great session and I look forward to welcoming them back for level 2 when the weather is a bit more predictable.

Well done to Orla, Honey and Sid! Chester will be doing his last class as a 121 (Yes, how lucky am I to have such a range of gundogs!)

Interested in starting some fun gundog training for your pet dog? Pop us across an email!

We got there in the End!

These Advanced obedience guys have been troopers, they started their course before the first heatwave so have had to cope with LOTS of postponements.

Today they had their graduation. I'm super proud of how far these guys have come. All have overcome individual quirks and are still progressing! Can't wait to see them in the Academy!

Well done to Binx, Nova, Big Buzz, Little Buzz.
