There are concerning reports coming from England, Scotland and Wales with 493 cases confirmed so far and more still awaiting testing.
There has been morbidity reported within these areas.
We are currently in the high-risk period for the disease with increased midge activity.
As such we wanted to provide up-to-date guidance on the best steps to take to protect your farm;
โข Vaccination remains the best way to reduce the impact of Bluetongue on your farm
- With increased demand in the hard-hit South of England supply can be intermittent so place your orders and we will source vaccine needed
โข We now recommend increased hygiene measures when vaccinating due to the risk of spreading disease between animals
- Ideally change the needle between each animal, although we understand this isnโt always practical!
- Clean the needle with a spirit swab between each animal and change the needle every 10 animals
