During Pain Awareness Month we want to help give information to Dog Owners about ways we can help our dogs with pain or discomfort that might not be as well known.

Holistic therapies and treatments can work side by side with veterinary treatments rather than needing to be one or the other; pain meds can accompany canine massage and using a PEMF mat at home, as just one example.

We have put together info on some of our preferred holistic approaches as well as therapies we are interested in but haven't needed as yet.

I do also have some personal recommendations for some of these:

Canine Flow - Caroline Spiritual Dog Trainer
Canine Massage - Sarah Darling
Photobiomodulation - PhotizoUK
Conditioning - Dog Training | Puppy Classes | Dog Fitness Angela🐶 Massage*Fitness*Rehab
Hydro Therapies - Blue Bear Animal Rehab
Acupuncture - SVRC
Ceramic Infused Technology - Back on Track
Healing Collars - DOG StreamZ | Magnetic Collars
Reiki - Nina - Holistic Gundog Trainer - Essex Gabriella Fotara | Psychic Medium 🔮 Business Energetics ⚡️
Self Selection - Rachel Knott | Animal communicator 🐾Holistic Animal Wellbeing

Note : I spelt Indiba Therapy wrong - I put Indeeba lol!!

There are more therapies and options available - research what is near you, how it works, if there is availability, check the cost is something you can manage and go from there!

We have some of these at home and others Merlin has monthly for maintenance and I'll use some of my own treatments etc on Ripley and Pepper if they need them.

Are there any holistic therapies here you haven't heard of before? Any your dog has already?

We would love to hear more!

🥳 Even when it finally rained our Hoopers three classes in August got to run in our indoor area instead of the paddock.

The introduction to Hoopers had been cancelled 4 times since May due to the heat and wanting to protect dogs and people so getting to finally run it was brilliant!

Plus we had our monthly Intermediate and Advanced Hoopers classes too.

There's a little planning on where everyone waits their turns so that the dog working gets plenty of space and the dogs watching don't become worried or over stimulated but our owners are all great at watching each other's space and being courteous to everyone!

Well done dogs and owners - looking forward to more on 19th September!

🧐 What is Enrichment for Dogs and Pets? Often it's the description given for snuffle mats and interactive toys and while they are really useful and we use them ourselves there are so many forms of enrichment available for our dogs and pets!

Here are some examples of different types of enrichment - and this is just some examples, there are many more!

Enrichment is about enhancing your pet's life and it's down to each pet on what they enjoy and find enriching!

Do you do any enrichment activities with your dog - maybe you're doing some and didn't realise they were known as enrichment!!!

Saturday was Canine Enrichment Day so my own dogs used some of their favourite enrichment toys - these ones are by Nina Ottosson and some collabs with Outward Hound.

Interactive Dog Toys are designed for us to put treats or dog's food in and then dogs actively work out what parts move to get the food out.

This is just one type of enrichment - our blog talls about lots of different ways we can offer our dogs enrichment. Type BRAIN in the comments for the blog

⭐️ September is Animal Pain Awareness Month (and Pain Awareness for people) and we will be helping explain the complex side of pain : identifying, reducing, preventing etc

⭐️ I've been extremely passionate about helping dogs have their discomfort highlighted and helped for many years, especially since becoming a certified professional canine fitness trainer back in 2014 and my training and research has continued ever since.

⭐️ Here is an introduction to what pain and discomfort could look like in dogs - are any of these a surprise? Is this what you'd expect a dog in pain to look like?

⭐️ More information and resources coming this month!

Thankyou to everyone who is patient, supportive or understanding when I'm having a bad few days or week - thats family, friends, colleagues, aquaintances and training friends!

I not only find admin tasks difficult sometimes but also things that are different to my usual schedule. I am so lucky to have been sent cards and gifts for my birthday but its also overwhelming knowing people care even when not with me so I have many people to thank still.

Know that taking a moment to say thankyou, no rush, I am just checking but it's not needed immediately etc actually is appreciated more than it may look. Not just with me but to many people.

And if talking about overwhelm linked to tasks inc messaging people back doesn't make sense at all, I'm incredibly glad you haven't experienced it and no one close to you has either xx 100% pleased - it's not a recommended way of life!

Thankyou for kindness and caring ###
