Ruff Cuts Dog Grooming

🐾 One of the questions I’m asked most often…

How often should my dog be groomed? ✂️🐶

The answer can vary depending on your dog’s breed, coat type, lifestyle and the length of their coat. However, I’ve put together this quick guide showing recommended grooming schedules for some of my most popular breeds.

Even dogs who are kept short still require regular grooming. Ears, tails and other areas can be prone to tangling and matting, while nails also need regular trimming to help keep your dog comfortable and moving freely.

Regular grooming isn’t just about keeping your dog looking their best — it also plays an important part in maintaining a healthy coat, skin, ears and nails. 💕🐾

Take a look at the guide below to see where your dog fits in!

Please remember that every dog is different, so grooming frequency may need to be adjusted to suit your individual dog’s coat and needs.

✨ Exciting Announcement! 🐾

I’m very excited to announce that Rebecca from Muddy Muts Dog Grooming will be joining us at Ruff Cuts and running her business from the salon, starting in the next couple of weeks!

This means Muddy Muts will be available on the days I’m off, giving you access to professional dog grooming 7 days a week. 🐶✂️

Rebecca is in the same position I was 18 months ago — she is newly qualified, fully trained at the same training centre I attended, and passionate about providing the highest standard of care. This means you can have complete reassurance that your dogs will be treated with the same level of professionalism, patience and care that you’ve come to expect from Ruff Cuts. ❤️

Rebecca is incredibly friendly, caring and approachable, and I know your four-legged family members will be in very safe and loving hands with her.

🐾 PRICE UPDATE — RUFF CUTS DOG GROOMING 🐾

I wanted to give all of my lovely customers a little update regarding my grooming prices. ❤️

Over the coming period, prices will be increasing by £3–£5, depending on the service and your dog’s individual requirements.

I have already introduced these increases for some customers, so if you have already been informed of a price increase, you will not receive another increase at this time.

When I first started Ruff Cuts, I was a very new groomer and intentionally kept my prices low during my first year while I built my experience, confidence and clientele. Since then, I have invested a great deal more into my education, training, equipment and the high-quality products I use, all with the aim of giving your dogs the best possible experience, care and treatment every time they visit. 🐶✂️

With the increasing cost of living and rising costs of grooming supplies and running the business, adjusting my prices has become a necessity to ensure Ruff Cuts can continue to provide the standard of care and service that I pride myself on.

This increase will also allow me to spend more time with each individual dog, rather than feeling the need to cram my schedule to make the numbers work. My priority is making sure every dog receives the time, patience, care and attention they deserve, rather than rushing appointments. ❤️

Rather than making one large increase all at once, I have decided to make this a gradual price adjustment. This means there will be another small increase in the New Year, allowing me to gradually bring my prices to where they need to be while keeping things as manageable as possible for my customers.

📋 A new price list is available for anyone who would like to see the updated prices. Please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to send it over.

I am incredibly grateful for every single person who supports Ruff Cuts and trusts me with their precious pups. ❤️ Your continued support means more than you know, and it allows me to keep learning, improving and providing the very best for your dogs.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting my small business. 🐾

Hi everyone! 🐾

Aoife is now 15 weeks old and growing like a wee mushroom. A few of you have met her already as she is frequently in the shop while me and Stu tag team childcare 😅

I know many of you have been waiting for an update on my return to work. I’ve deliberately kept things quiet while I settled back into work and found a routine that works for both my family and me.

Since returning, I’ve tried to contact all of my regular clients personally. If I’ve missed you, I sincerely apologise—I know a few people may have slipped through the cracks.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve experimented with different working days and hours, and I’ve realised I’ve taken on a little too much. To ensure I can continue providing the best service while maintaining a healthy work-life balance, I’ve had to set some boundaries.

My regular opening hours are now:
🐶 Monday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
🐶 Wednesday: 10:00am – 1:00pm
🐶 Friday: 10:00am – 5:00pm

I will also offer occasional Saturday morning appointments when available.

At the moment, I am fully booked until the 3rd week of August. From September, I will be able to welcome some new clients. To help keep appointments running smoothly, all new clients will be asked to book regular grooming appointments every 6–8 weeks.

Thank you all so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support. It really does mean the world to me, and I’m looking forward to seeing you and your lovely dogs soon! ❤️
