The Hawk Conservancy Trust is an award-winning charity and visitor attraction, with a mission to conserve birds of prey and their habitats. Set in 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadow, you can see an incredible range of different birds of prey species, from the tiny Burrowing Owl to the awesome Golden Eagle! Many of these birds are involved in our spectacular daily flying displays, whilst ot

hers are part of important breeding programmes. The Trust is also home to the National Bird of Prey Hospital™, that can treat up to 200 sick, injured and orphaned wild birds of prey each year. As well as a full daily timetable that includes flying displays, talks and activities, the Trust also offer a wide range of experiences to get even closer to these magnificent birds, as well as evening events to come back and see incredible bird-flights at different times of the day. IVAD is tomorrow! Bird Team Member Poppy and Boe share a wonderful about Egyptian Vultures. Their nickname in the Balkans has its roots in local folklore, making this remarkable bird even more interesting. We work to conserve Egyptian Vultures as part of the Central Asian Vultures Project.

Ravens typically mate for life and are among the UK’s earliest nesters, laying 4–6 eggs from February to April. Once largely confined to the west after declining in the 20th century, they’re now recovering and spreading east again

Last year, our British Projects Manager, Dr Matt Stevens, was called to a towering tree-top nest in a local farmer cluster — not one for the faint-hearted!

Ringing these chicks provides valuable data, and we also monitor Ravens during our bird of prey transects, allowing population comparisons to be made with scavenging Birds of Prey, like Red Kites and Buzzards.

🦉 Although we commonly refer to Mushu's species as the Greyish Eagle-Owl, this owl is also known by another name - Vermiculated Eagle-Owl, a name that is a little more descriptive than simply "greyish."
