If you are interested in a Canicross session with your dog, already run together but are lacking drive, reactional dog or want to practice overtakes or learn more about the sport…drop me a message to get booked in.
So lovely to get good feedback from my clients. Patch and his owner came to me as they really wanted to run smoothly together but Patch had other ideas and would get easily distracted and want to scent mark every couple of meters. We have been working on getting Patch moving forwards without stopping, building up his fitness and confidence to be out front. Patch also has a history of being reactive so having him run with Copper has been very productive for him, he’s happy to be passed and to pass her without issue. In the coming weeks we will be working towards him running with Snow (he is husky reactive so this will be a slow intro) and increasing the 3km he’s run with Copper. Patches owner really wants to race him in the future so I’m excited to support them on this journey to the start line 🤩
“I’ve taken Patch out on my own a couple times since our last session for some short sessions (a 3.5km and 4.5km). We only did very short intervals throughout (100-200m) but the improvement in him is amazing, he hasn’t stopped to sniff at all during the running intervals. He definitely starts tiring a lot after a couple hundred meters, even more so from halfway onwards, and his pulling drops (but he stays in front) it’s more noticeable when he’s on his own as he isn’t pushing through to follow another dog I think.
Going to keep taking him out on short interval runs and add in some longer walks/free runs to try and increase his fitness a bit more 🤣”
“Im really chuffed with him and how quick he’s progressed! Literally last month I was having to leap over him because he was stopping so suddenly while running 😂 thank you!
don’t mind the intervals, we were getting about 4ish minutes per km when he was really going so the walking breaks give me time to recover 😂 “
