Such a gorgeous, good natured boy.

There comes a time, in every life we care for, when our role gently shifts…. from healing, to helping them to let go. It’s never an easy decision. Even when we know it is the right one, it carries so much love, responsibility, and quiet heartbreak. Over the years, I’ve been honoured to care for many wonderful animals, supporting them through illness, helping them to stay comfortable, and, sometimes, guiding them at the very end of their journey. One of the kindest things we can do for them is to listen…. to what their body is telling us, to the changes we see in their comfort and joy, and to that feeling we have, deep down, when we know they are tired and are ready to transition. Choosing to say goodbye is not giving up. It’s an act of love. Thinking today of some very special patients, and the families who loved them so deeply ❤️

I’m starting to introduce something new into my integrative work…. And the first step (as always!) is trying it on one of my own dogs 🐾. I’m going to be looking more closely at gut health, specifically how gut is FUNCTIONING, not just what might be showing up on the surface. This is an area that often links to digestive issues, skin problems and longer term health and wellbeing. I’ll share a little more as I do along, including what we find and how it might guide treatment in a more targeted way.

A gentle Easter weekend reminder that sometimes the most important thing we can offer our animals is comfort, calm and presence. Whether that’s supporting an older dog with mobility, managing a long term condition, or simply making sure they feel safe and settled, small moments of care really do matter.
