e importance of having the opportunity for home pet euthanasia following the experience of going through it myself. In 2022 our beloved family dog "Rita" suddenly took a very bad turn one afternoon in the garden. Following an overnight stay in intensive care at the vets, she lost control of her back legs and I knew that she was not going to get better. Even though the hospital she was treated in was amazing, I knew that she was uncomfortable and stressed in that environment. As I am a vet we were fortunate to be able to make the decision to bring her home to put to sleep. As soon as she was home in her own familiar surroundings, she stopped crying and was instantly relaxed and content. After we gave her a final meal of a chicken dinner, we then gathered as a family in the garden and all sat with her while saying goodbye. Even though it was a very difficult moment as a family, the comfort we had of being able to do this at home gave us some contentment. Pets are a huge part of our lives and I feel that a good life should also end with a goodbye that honours that love and the memories shared. Saying good bye is never easy, but I hope that our services can provide support to make it as easy and soothing as possible.

She wasn’t just an animal—she was family, a constant source of comfort, loyalty, and unconditional love ❤️

Losing her left a space that can never truly be filled.

Saying goodbye is the hardest part of loving an animal 😢 But how we say goodbye matters.
