Alabama rot is a rare but serious condition that can affect dogs, most often after walks in wet, muddy woodland during the colder months. 🍂
It often begins with small, painful sores on the paws, legs, face, or mouth. These may look like ulcers or red patches and can cause extra licking. Some dogs may also seem more tired than usual, off their food, or have vomiting or diarrhoea.
Most skin sores have far more common and less serious causes — but because Alabama rot can progress quickly, it’s important to seek veterinary help promptly if you notice anything unusual.
At Healing Tails we’re here to support your dog’s wellbeing with calm, integrative care alongside your primary vet. 🌿
