🐾 ALL CLEAR? 🐾

Finding odour is one skill…
Knowing when there’s nothing there to find is another. 👀

Today was about so much more than “no odour” — search coverage, reading the dog, trusting the information they’re giving you and having the confidence to make the call.

A workshop that really made handlers think — challenge what they see, trust what their dog is telling them and know when they’ve done enough to confidently call it CLEAR. 🔥💙💛

Brilliant work from today’s teams — and tomorrow we do it all again with a fresh group of handlers & dogs. Can’t wait! 👀🔥

🏆🐾 WHAT. A. DAY. 🐾🏆

Our first Happy Dog Training Scentwork Sports Day absolutely delivered! 🤩

Great dogs. Brilliant teamwork. Plenty of laughs. A little healthy competition… and LOTS of medals and trophies heading home! 🏅🏆

The atmosphere was fantastic and watching everyone throw themselves into the challenges with their dogs made the day even better. 💙💛

If you missed this one… you really did miss a good one! 👀😉

Sports Day 2027 anyone?! 🏆🐾
May be we will squeeze in a winter olympics first 😉 🤭

Thank you to everyone for making it the day it was and for agreeing to come early to beat the heat.

Extra big thank you to
Jo (from Nosey Dogs) and Wendy for coming even earlier and for judging along side me today enabling us to push through the games and be finished before it got too hot.

A great morning of searching at Farnborough Air Science Trust Museum ✈️🐾

Today’s workshop started a little differently — with every handler being issued a bump cap, followed by a health & safety briefing and a dynamic risk assessment of our search areas before we got started.

With the temperatures climbing, we managed to make the most of a couple of hours of searching this morning before calling it a day. We adapted where needed, carefully considering the dogs, the environment and the increasing heat throughout.

It’s certainly a challenging environment — lots to navigate, plenty to think about and some fantastic search opportunities — but every team rose to the challenge and worked really well. 👏🐾

A little shorter workshop than originally planned, but plenty of quality searching packed in! 💙💛

🐾 RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR BEGINNERS! 🐾

I don’t often offer a full beginners course, so this is a fantastic opportunity to train with me right from the foundations and learn the principles behind my operationally inspired approach to scentwork — carefully adapted for the pet & sport dog community.

Over 12 weeks, we’ll build those all-important foundations step by step, developing confident, purposeful searching and helping both dog and handler understand their role within the search team.

🔥 JUST TWO SPACES REMAINING:

🐾 11:15am — 1 space
For dogs aged 1 year+

🐾 12:30pm — 1 space
For puppies/young dogs from 12 weeks, providing they have received their second vaccination.

With just 4 dogs per class, there’s plenty of individual coaching and support as we build towards progression sessions and future workshops.

If you’ve been wanting to get into scentwork and would like the opportunity to start from the very beginning with me, this is it! 💙💛

And that’s a wrap on Day 2 of our joint workshop with Rachel & Darren 🐾

Today the groups swapped instructors, continuing to build on the same themes of search systems & handler choices.

For Handler Choices, today we explored:
• Working higher hide placements
• Applying route-searching principles within larger search areas to create a more systematic and purposeful search
• Finding the balance between allowing the dog to search independently and recognising when handler support is needed — including when, where and how to step in without taking over the search

Lots of great discussions, problem-solving and individual adaptations to suit each dog and handler partnership.

A brilliant two days — plenty of learning, progression and ideas to take forward into future training. 💙💛

Great first day of our joint workshop with Rachel and Darren 👏

Over the two days we’re working with 12 handler and dog teams, with each team spending a full day with each instructor.

Darren’s groups focused on developing a systematic search pattern, building teamwork and confidence as they worked methodically through a building search.

Rachel’s group explored Handler Choices, with Day 1 covering:
• Starting the search with purpose
• Working higher hide placements
• Introducing search systems
• Proofing a new odour
• Using a bridge to improve clarity and understanding with one of our less experienced teams

A brilliant first day with lots of learning, problem-solving and some fantastic progress from every team. Looking forward to swapping groups tomorrow! 🐾
