Hurrah! We have a senior cat to go on our special seniors board in Reception!

This is the lovely Clyde. Clyde is 18 and a half years of age, but he really does not look it! He is suffering the effects of some arthritis though, and comes in for a regular injection to help him with that.

If you have a senior cat, it is a good idea to watch out for signs of mobility issues.
Signs will often be subtle with cats as they will rarely yelp or cry. Things to look out for include difficulty when going up and down stairs, being slow to rise or hesitating to jump.

Cats don't have to suffer the pain of arthritis - no matter their age.

If you have any worries at all that your cat may be beginning to suffer from signs of aging, do give us a call to book in with one of our experienced RVN's for a Senior Health Check. Throughout October and November this is an entirely free service.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A WELLNESS BLOOD TEST FOR A SENIOR PET?

By routinely screening our pets' blood, ideally every 6-12 months, we can get a very valuable insight into their potential for disease before it effects their welfare.

A blood test can help the vet to distinguish age-related changes with those that we should be concerned about, and can help us detect them early, before symptoms appear rather than at advanced stages of the disease.

As part of our Senior Wellness Campaign this autumn, we are offering HALF PRICE Wellness Blood Tests for our *senior patients.

Please note that if you on our Pet Health Plan, these tests are completely FREE to ALL patients.

Say hello to Muffin and Crumpet!

Aren’t they just the cutest little things! And what fantastic names. The owner tells us that they were a surprise significant birthday present she could not have been more delighted.

They came in for their kitten check and to start their course of vaccinations and all was well.

Little Muffin though is quite a special boy as he is ‘polydactyl’ which means he has extra toes. That just means we need to keep an eye on his nails and ensure they are regularly clipped!

We can’t wait to see them back for their second vaccination in a couple of weeks.

As you can see we've got some lovely photos of some of our regular seniors, but we'd love to have more!!!

If you'd like to add your senior to our board, do pop in and we'll hold a little photoshoot! Pop in any time!!

We'd love to have as many of them as possible to make us smile.

As you can see we are particularly short of our feline friends, so if you do have a senior cat, we'll be watching out for you!

That is never good news for our pets!

Now is a good time to start preparing!

Calming plug-ins can help create a more relaxing environment for pets who may feel anxious or unsettled for fireworks. Starting them early gives them time to work before the loud bangs begin.

🐾SAY HELLO TO OUR SENIOR PACK! 🐾

This is Biscuit, Gracie and Otto!

We are taking some time this Autumn to appreciate the senior members of our pet family. The term ' senior' can vary from breed to species, but we categorise senior as over 7 for dogs and over 9 for cats. Our aim is to make sure that those under our care live their very best lives for as long as possible.

To that end we are running a Senior Wellness Promotion through October and November.

We are offering FREE Senior Wellness Checks with our experienced RVN Team who will assess your pet's mobility, check they are on an appropriate diet and give them a thorough check over.

Also included in the offer are a FREE Urine Test, and a 50% Senior Wellness Blood test.

By routinely screening blood and urine we can gain a valuable insight into their potential for problems.

Of course, if you are on our Pet Health Plan, this is available to you at any time.

We think you will agree that Biscuit, Gracie and Otto are looking gorgeous and are receiving the very best care from their owners.

💛Say hello to Winnie! That beautiful face says it all! 💛

As you can see the lovely Winnie is 3 months old and a beautiful cocker spaniel pup. She came in to us to have her second vaccination.

New puppies will need a course of two vaccinations 2 and 4 weeks apart to ensure they have full coverage against the diseases that can effect them throughout their lives.

After that an annual booster should keep them safe.

Winnie as an absolute delight, and we particularly loved to hear that her favourite passtime was re-arranging toilet rolls! Those eyes really do look so very innocent!

💜We are delighted once again to be supporting Murphy's Army Purple Poppy Campaign💜

This is their 10th year of raising money to honour service animals past and present. Their campaign aims to remember those animals lost in service, as well as supporting the welfare of retired service animals and those still in service.

They have supplied us with a lovely range of hand-knitted purple poppies, some pet friendly collar items, as well as some super pin badges, woven badges, car stickers and bracelets.

Do pop in and check out the range or have a look next time you are in. There is a minimum donation of £2.50 which can be paid in cash or via the QR code on the box.

Say hello to Ocean who is enjoying a lovely cuddle with nurse Yvette.

Little Ocean came in to be spayed, which is a big operation for such a little girl.

One of our nurses is a huge chihuahua fan, and has a little chihuahua family at home - she was only too have Ocean to look after.

Ocean has been incredibly sweet girl and we are happy to say she is now recovering well at home with her owner.

Well done Ocean. You are very brave girl indeed.
