Say hello to Churro.

Poor old Churro came in today for a dental. She had a few nasty infected teeth which we removed for her. The vet also gave her other teeth a good scale and polish, so she can look forward to a pain free future with a dazzling smile.

She was beautifully behaved and a pleasure to look after.

We hope you recover from your procedure very quickly.

Look who popped in today for a weigh-in looking his sartorial best as ever!

This is Charlie - he had had his owners very worried indeed as he was losing weight, and there didn't seem to be any obvious cause.

Happily, after some extensive investigations and a referral to a specialist, Charlie was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. Although it is not a nice diagnosis to receive, the owners were relieved that it was something that can hopefully be treated through a special diet.

The even better news is that we will be seeing Charlie for regular weigh-ins to make sure he is putting that weight back on nicely and maintaining it.

Charlie is an absolutely gorgeous boy and such a patient chap - we hope that you feel much better now Charlie!

It was a pleasure to see one of our very favourite senior ladies today!

Amber comes into us on a regular basis for an injection to help her with her arthritis. Although arthritis can seem like an inevitability in old age, the pain and discomfort doesn't have to be. There are several options for treating the pain and making sure your senior pet lives out its years in as much comfort as possible.

Amber is always eager to see us, but then we think it may be because she gives us one look with those beautiful brown eyes, and we open up the treat tin!

If you suspect your senior companion is suffering from discomfort due to arthritis, please feel free to give us a call for further advice.

Say hello to these gorgeous springer spaniel brothers, Dodger and Trampas, who came in for their six month health checks this week.

Trampas decided to make himself comfortable in the waiting room while Dodger had an extra check on his sore paw!

The hot and dry weather has been really difficult for dogs and their paws, as it is rock hard and often cracked and sharp.

Do keep an eye on anything your dog may be licking and if there is any broken skin encourage them to leave it be, even if that means popping on a ‘cone of shame’ for a couple of days. In the long run it will help things to heal and avoid any nasty infections.

And of course, if in doubt, give us a call and we will have a look.

CONGRATULATIONS.....

To everyone collecting their GCSE results today. You got there and whatever grades achieved there will be a next step just waiting for you.

If you are still trying to work out your next move, and love animals, have a little think about a career in veterinary nursing perhaps.

There are a couple of routes in to becoming a fully qualified veterinary nurse, and you get to work with lovely animals every single day.

If you would like to know more, our lovely team of experienced veterinary nurses would be only too happy to give you some advice and insight in to the role and explain the training options. It's a busy, rewarding and involved job, and we know that lots of you would make fantastic veterinary nurses.

We have been lucky enough to host some excellent work experience students this year, some of whom are training, or planning to train for roles in the veterinary profession. We hope that they got the results they were hoping for today as well.

What a wonderful start to the week we had today! Not one, but two babies!

First of all we had Hunter, the incredibly cool and laid back Irish Setter. He could not have been more chilled and was happy enough posing for the camera. He was such a good boy having his vaccinations. Apparently his favourite thing to do is eat plants!!

Then we had Nova the kitten. She is a beautiful grey and white 'moggy' who also came in for her vaccinations. Her owner said her favourite activity was sleeping on her and purring loudly. Sounds like a perfect partnership.

Both Hunter and Nova were two months old. It was lovely to see them. Thanks for bringing them in!

We'll start you off....but we are sure you can do better than us!

What did the dalmatian say when he had finished his dinner?
