Did you spot the sausages in Southwold last weekend? Aldeburgh's very own Wag & Bone were there to dress and accessorise the thousands of Dachshunds that descended on the Suffolk Coast..

The wonderful Southwold Sausage Walk, also known as the Day of the Sausage, returned at the weekend, bringing an incredible gathering of around 2,000 dachshunds to Southwold's beautiful beach!

Thankfully, the weather held out for this fantastic event, which saw a lot of adorable four-legged friends and their owners enjoying a seaside stroll, all while raising awareness of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a condition affecting dachshunds.

What an amazing sight to see so many little legs, wagging tails and stylish sausages taking over the beach!

Next year promises to be even more special as the event celebrates its 10th anniversary!

Did you attend this year's Sausage Walk? We'd love to hear about it and see your photos! 📸

Take a look at this fascinating photograph of Aldeburgh, taken in February 1938 following a particularly high tide.

The image captures a very different scene from the Aldeburgh we know today, with traditional fishing boats, wooden huts and the shoreline covered by the incoming water.

It's a wonderful reminder of the town's long maritime history, its close connection to the sea and the generations of fishing families who have helped shape Aldeburgh's character over the years.

Look closely and you can even spot the old boat hire signs and some of the traditional vessels that would once have been a familiar sight along our coastline.

Do you recognise this part of Aldeburgh? Perhaps you remember how it looked years ago, or have family stories and photographs of the town's fishing heritage?

1. The Dolphin Inn Thorpeness

Just a stone's throw from The Meare, The Dolphin Inn offers a welcoming setting, locally sourced ingredients and a tempting 'roast and crumble' two-course deal for £21.95. A lovely spot for a relaxed Sunday lunch!

2. The White Lion Hotel, Aldeburgh

Situated on Aldeburgh's beautiful seafront, The White Lion offers a lovely coastal setting for a traditional Sunday lunch. Why not combine a relaxing stroll along the beach with a delicious roast and some quality time with family or friends?

3. The Plough and Sail, Snape

Located at the picturesque Snape Maltings, The Plough and Sail is another wonderful choice for a cosy Sunday lunch. With its welcoming pub atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, it's the perfect place to enjoy a hearty roast after exploring the shops or taking an autumn walk along the River Alde.

We will never forget.

Today, on the anniversary of the Aberfan disaster of 1966, we stop to remember the 144 lives lost—including 116 children and 28 adults—when a colliery spoil tip collapsed onto Pantglas Junior School and surrounding homes.

As part of the UK Fire and Rescue family, our thoughts today are with the people of Aberfan, the survivors, the families who lost loved ones, and the emergency service colleagues and brave community members who worked tirelessly in the tragic days that followed.

We will never forget. 🕯️
