Just a certified good boy and his 414 donkey buddies 🥰

We rehomed Stanley before the XL Bully ban came into force, and he's now living the dream with his owner, who works as a donkey groom. He's an excellent example of how XL Bullies can be in the right hands - a water-loving lapdog who adores his family.

We're sharing his story on the 35th anniversary of the poorly thought-out Dangerous Dogs Act, which is failing to reduce dog bites or consistently protect the public.

Despite evidence showing that breed is not a good predictor of aggressive behaviour, five specific types of dogs are banned in the UK, unless exempted like Stan. Ultimately, this approach is not working; we need a new approach that puts responsible ownership at the heart of everything.

This is why we've developed the Dog Ownership Guide in collaboration with Dogs Trust, to help both new and experienced dog owners have a better, more consistent understanding of what it means to be a responsible dog owner. We're continuing to raise the issue with policymakers, enforcers, animal welfare practitioners, leaders and advocates too.

The government has launched a public consultation on proposed changes to fireworks legislation. Protect the Wild believes that to protect animals, fireworks should be restricted to professional displays.
