Yesterday was World Otter Day, but Chico and Tina informed us that every day should be about them anyway, so we’re only slightly behind schedule.

Asian short-clawed otters are the smallest otter species in the world, but sadly their wild populations are decreasing due to habitat loss, pollution, and the illegal pet trade.

These clever, social little animals play an important role in wetland ecosystems, and protecting their habitats helps countless other species too.

How can we help?
•Never support the exotic pet trade
•Reduce plastic and water pollution
•Support conservation organisations protecting wetlands and wildlife
•Learn about the species we share the planet with and spread awareness

Serving frozen strawberries like it’s a five star raccoon resort, and Bandit is taking quality control very seriously today🍓🦝
Meanwhile, Rocket has declined all media appearances.

Raccoons don’t actually “wash” food to clean it like many people think — wetting objects helps make the nerve endings in their paws even more sensitive, allowing them to investigate what they’re holding, especially when something is cold or unfamiliar.

Meet the tiniest troublemakers of half term… the baby skunks are out and exploring! 🦨✨

The little ones have started venturing out more with mum, exploring their surroundings.

They’re still very young though, so sightings aren’t guaranteed, but if you do spot them, prepare for cuteness overload

As we head in to half term it is great to receive such a lovely thank you card form a recent school visit.

Today is Endangered Species Day- a reminder that some of the world’s most incredible animals are disappearing faster than many people realise

From tiny primates to powerful predators, every species plays a role in keeping ecosystems healthy. Habitat loss, pollution, climate change and illegal wildlife trade are pushing many animals closer to extinction.

But conservation, education and small everyday actions really do make a difference.

Here at Millets Wildside, we’re proud to help inspire people to care about wildlife through connection, education and unforgettable animal encounters

Every conversation, every visit, and every person who learns to love animals helps create a future worth protecting🌱

Some of the photos shared today were taken during one of our previous Photo Days 📸✨

Four lemurs. Four personalities.

Meet the troop!

Gloria- the calm queen and leader of the troop. She has a finger that doesn’t bend properly, but that has never stopped her from running the group like a professional manager

Giggles- Gloria’s daughter. Bright eyes, endless confidence and she’s absolutely convinced every snack belongs to her first

Alfonso is our shy boy. Prefers observing the drama rather than participating in it, with nose contouring so perfect even makeup artists would be jealous

Lynden “Long Nose” - confident, fearless, and somehow always appears first when food is involved. The nose arrives before the rest of him

Want to spend some time with our little lemur gang? 🐾
You can book a lemur encounter here:

Last week was super special, we visited the Eco museum and visitor centre in the Pyrenees and learn about their conservation work with the bearded vulture and a super special treat to be invited to their vulture feeding station to see more vultures in one place than I ever thought possible.
Lots more pictures to follow
