I was kindly invited onto BBC Radio Scotland this morning to chat about some of Scotland’s hidden autumn walking gems.

Before going on air, I asked the WildEmber Bothy sauna community for their favourite local walks and hidden places around Loch Tay. Two suggestions came through again and again, so that’s what I shared.

Maybe you come to mark something, reconnect with someone, create a pause between one part of life and the next, or simply place yourselves somewhere that changes the pace a little. Sometimes the sauna is the reason. Sometimes it is just the setting that makes the conversation, the reunion, the reflection or the reset possible.

Summer has a habit of pulling us in every direction. Holidays, visitors, long evenings, busy weekends and time away.

Now the days are starting to shorten, the air is cooling and WildEmber is settling into a different rhythm.

Which feels like a pretty good time to come back to the Bothy.

Wood-fired heat, a dip in Loch Tay if you fancy it, tea afterwards and an hour where there really isn’t very much you need to do.

If you’ve been away for the summer, haven’t visited for a while, or have been meaning to try WildEmber for the first time, autumn is a lovely time to come.

Community sauna sessions are running through the week and weekends at the Scottish Crannog Centre, Kenmore.

A huge thank you to everyone who came, supported, donated, shared and helped make today such a success.

Together we raised £1,082 for flood relief in Nepal, and every booking and donation has helped make that possible.

We’re now looking forward to passing the money on to Bring Back the Smiles to Nepal, so that everyone’s generosity and effort can be put to use supporting people and communities there.

Thank you for getting behind it, for filling the sauna, and for helping us turn a day at WildEmber into something that reaches much further than Loch Tay.

Today is the day

We still have spaces across a number of sauna sessions, and 100% of today’s sauna income is going to flood relief in Nepal through Bring Back the Smile to Nepal.

So if you were thinking about coming down, this is a good day to do it: an hour by the loch, some wood-fired warmth, a dip if you fancy it, and the knowledge that your booking is helping support communities affected by the floods.

If you can’t make it, donations are still very welcome. Today is also the final day to add your name to the fundraiser and be entered into the draw to win the .apparel sauna hat. The donation page itself will stay open after today.

Nepal has given me some of the most memorable adventures, friendships and experiences of my life.

Watching the recent floods unfold has been heartbreaking. It feels right that WildEmber gives something back.
