May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month 🐾

This month, we’re celebrating the compassion, dedication, and skill of our incredible veterinary nurses. From comforting nervous pets to supporting life-saving treatments, they are at the heart of everything we do.

A special thank you to our wonderful team — Claire, Charlotte, Matthew, Vicky, and Trish — for everything you do every single day 💙
And a big shoutout to Amber, who sat her OSCE exams yesterday — we’re all rooting for you!

What a great time we had today with the children from Banana Moon Nursery who visited as part of their jobs in the community experience.
They were so excited to look round the Practice and had some great questions.
Vets of the future I’m sure.
Home now practicing their veterinary skills!❤️

Some of our wonderful staff here at Swan Vets have signed up for the 5K Pretty Mudder in aid of Cancer Research UK 🏃🏼‍♀️🩷

If you’d like to support the girls, please consider donating at the link below.

Wishing them luck for training and the big day 🩷

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.

URGENT NEWS for clients who normally travel using EU Pet Passports.
There have been changes to the use of Pet Passports that come into effect from THIS WEDNESDAY!

From 22 April 2026, new EU rules will apply to the non-commercial movement of dogs, cats and ferrets entering the EU from third countries such as Great Britain (GB). Pet owners are advised to check the entry requirements with the relevant authority in the destination country before travel.

An EU pet passport, issued to or held by a pet owner who is resident in GB, will no longer be a valid document for travelling with pets from GB to the EU. This applies to EU pet passports issued in an EU Member State or Northern Ireland, including those issued before 22 April 2026. EU pet passports may only be issued to owners whose main residence is within the European Union.

GB residents travelling to the EU with a pet dog, cat or ferret will need to obtain an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for travel from 22 April 2026.

Sadly we have had a deceased cat handed in to us this morning. He was found on the A947 on the Meldrum side of Newmachar.
Ginger and white un-neutered Tom cat - not microchipped.
Please contact the surgery on 01224-722437 if you think you might be the owner .

🚨We understand that life can get busy, but missed appointments have a real impact on our veterinary team and the animals in our care.

If you’re unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. This allows us to offer that time to another pet who may need urgent attention.

Please note that repeat missed appointments without prior notice will incur a charge of £25.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us provide the best possible care to all our patients 🐾🚨
