🐉 Meet Kayda, the Bearded Dragon

Kayda recently came to see us when her owner noticed she wasn’t quite herself. Investigations revealed that she had some very large follicles on her ovaries, which were making up over 10% of her body weight.

Our vet Alison spayed Kayda to prevent further problems. Kayda sailed through her surgery and she’s now back home feeling like her best self again 💚

As a VCA, you’ll play an important role in supporting our veterinary team, helping us provide the highest standard of patient care, while ensuring our clinic remains clean and welcoming.

Nibbler and Gizmo 🐰

Just look at these two post op superstars ⭐️

They enjoyed their post op recovery food so much that they happily ate it all by themselves - no syringe feeding required.

A good appetite is an important part of post op recovery, and these two certainly weren’t going to let surgery get in the way of their lunch.

Meet the team – introducing Alison!

We're delighted to officially introduce Alison, who joined the practice in January and is mainly based at our Culter surgery.

Alison qualified from Glasgow Vet School in 2005 and has developed her passion for exotic pet medicine throughout her career. She has a particular interest in surgery, and is also experienced in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

We're also delighted to congratulate Alison on recently passing the Improve International General Practitioner Certificate in Exotic Pet Medicine. This qualification reflects a huge amount of study alongside a busy clinical caseload, and we're incredibly proud of her achievement.
Alison is happy to see all exotic pet species and welcomes both routine and more complex cases.

Over the next few weeks we'll be sharing a few of her exotic cases (with owners' permission!) to give you a glimpse of the wide range of patients we see here—from rabbits to reptiles and everything in between!

We're always looking for an excuse for cake, and passing a postgraduate certificate definitely qualified! The team even managed to find plenty of exotic-themed decorations.

A microchip can be the difference between a lost pet and a happy reunion.
But a microchip only works if the details linked to it are correct and current.

✅ Make sure your pet is microchipped
✅ Check that your phone number, home address and email address are up to date
✅ Update details after moving house or changing numbers

Microchips are permanent, but contact details aren’t. Taking just a few minutes to check can save weeks of worry—or in Daisy’s case six months.

A member of the public handed Daisy into the practice after finding her wandering. We scanned for a microchip, and that tiny chip made a huge difference.

Thanks to an up-to-date microchip, we were able to contact the owner and reunite them with Daisy, after six long months.

A moment of heartbreak turned into an incredible moment of relief and joy. 🥹
