Why read low-quality images when better images exist?

Veterinary imaging stopped improving the moment standards accepted "good enough."

Specialists have learned to work around low SNR. Adjusting windows. Re-running sequences. Interpreting what the image withheld.

It's become invisible. The cost of mediocre images is so normalized that no one names it anymore.

But the cost is real. Reader fatigue from disambiguation. Inconsistent quality across scanners creating cognitive load. Repeated studies because first-pass clarity wasn't there. Longer anesthesia time because image quality demanded it.
