🐶🎓 PUPPY UNIVERSITY: THE TEENAGE YEARS & BEYOND

Has your ‘grown’ puppy entered the “I heard you… but THIS is wayyy more exciting!” phase? 😝 Pulling on the lead, distracted by everything, and recall is suddenly optional?..
Welcome to the teenage years! 😅🐕🎓

I’m excited to be running a practical, everyday skills mini-course, consisting of two fun, hands-on workshops. Dogs of all ages welcome, whether navigating the teenage years or simply needing a skills refresh 🌟

Together we’ll work on:
🐾 Loose lead walking
🐾 Recall foundations
🐾 Focus & engagement
🐾 Calmness & resilience
🐾 Essential everyday life skills

Through fun, practical games and exercises that fit easily into busy lives, we’ll help your dog learn to coexist calmly around other dogs, focus on you rather than the distractions, and make better choices. Simple, achievable training for happier dogs and happier owners! 💕

I’m Tracey, founder of Affinity4Paws Dog Care and a qualified dog trainer based in Antibes. With over 20 years’ experience, I offer a complete range of personalised dog care and training, including home-from-home dog sitting, daycare, home visits, dog concierge services, dog portraits, bespoke 1-to-1 training and fun, practical group classes 🐾

🐕 🌳🐾 Another fantastic Life Skills Club session in the forest this weekend!

We made the most of the cooler temperatures before the heat arrived, with lots of happy dogs, happy owners and plenty of learning along the way 💫

Together we worked on:
🐾 Handler engagement
🐾 Loose lead walking
🐾 Impulse control
🐾 Neutrality around other dogs
🐾 Calm settles
🐾 Enrichment
🐾 Confidence building
🐾 Counter-conditioning
🐾 …and so much more!

Life Skills Club is all about helping dogs thrive in the real world through fun, practical training in a relaxed, supportive environment. Whether they are anxious, excitable or reactive, all dogs are welcome! ❤️

Happy 15th Birthday to our beautiful Charlie!!❤️🎂🎈🥳

I’d say she’s doing retirement properly… homemade liver cake bites, a birthday candle to make a wish (she wished for more liver cake 😝), and this year… her very own paddling pool to survive the French heatwave! 😎💦 (though she said she’s happy to share with her pals!).

And as if that wasn’t enough, her lovely mum is collecting her this evening too… so really, this might just be the best day ever! 🥹🥰

Happy Birthday sweet girl. I love you to the moon and back! ❤️

Here is beautiful Spot 🐾❤️ who his lovely foster lady simply couldn’t resist… and officially adopted! What a lucky boy!

Spot is a little pocket rocket 🚀 Full of character, cleverness and fun.

In our latest private training session we covered lots, but his owner’s main goals were loose lead walking and recall. By focusing first on the foundations, building value in staying close, creating clear lead communication, engagement and a little more structure, Spot made such lovely progress in just one session. By the end, he was already asking us for the next challenge and ready to start proofing those new skills in more difficult environments! 🤩

Such a bright, beautiful little dog. I very nearly smuggled him home in my pocket when nobody was looking! 😝🥰

A few photos of my latest dog portrait… and a very special one ❤️….

Many of you will recognise Charlie, my resident Mama Polar Bear 🐻‍❄️💕 I’ve been caring for her and she’s been coming to me for holidays for 6 years now and has welcomed so many of your dogs into the pack with her calm, gentle nature.

Her lovely owner recently celebrated a very big birthday and I was so honoured to be invited to what was quite honestly the most incredible evening I’ve ever been to… I may retire from parties now because I’m not sure anything will ever top that one! 🤩💃🥂

I wanted to give something personal. Something that hopefully in years to come will still be hanging on the wall and bring back memories of a very, very special girl.

Seeing their reaction and the happy tears involved made my heart very full 🥹❤️

Thank you Iris for entrusting in me as Charlie’s “second mum” all these years. What a privilege it’s been to care for the beautiful ‘furry octopus’ 🙏🥰

Not entirely sure how I managed it, but I somehow turned “being completely obsessed with dogs” (including playing ‘Superdogs’ everyday in the school playground aged 5 🤣) into a full-time career ❤️🐶🌟

From training dogs, painting dogs, ‘concierge-ing dogs’ for private clients, walking dogs and sitting dogs in clients’ and my own home, every part of my workday comes with fur attached! 👌🏻🤩 I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Meet Remy, a beautiful 4-month-old Vizsla and full-time land-shark! 🦈 😝✨

I feel honoured to be guiding him and his lovely owners on their training journey as they shape the foundations for a calm, confident and happy adult dog!

In our first session last week, we focused on two big puppy essentials:

🦈 Tackling those “land shark” biting moments
🚶‍♂️ Introducing the beginnings of recall and loose lead walking, so walks feel more like teamwork rather than tug-of-war!

Remy is bright and full of energy, which makes him a wonderful little student… even if his teeth sometimes think they’re in charge 😅

His owners now have clear, practical homework to continue building good habits between sessions, and I’m really looking forward to seeing their progress next week.

Puppy training isn’t about perfection. It’s about guidance, consistency, and learning to speak “dog” just a little better every day 🐶 💕
