Rota Animal Welfare League - RAWL Rota Animal Welfare League (RAWL) is a non-profit animal care facility on NAVSTA Rota military base sustained entirely by community donations and volunteers.

Our number one mission at RAWL is connecting animals with loving, caring, forever families. Rota Animal Welfare League (RAWL) is an animal shelter that finds homes for dogs and cats, and relies on volunteers of NS Rota, Spain to care for those animals.

A little bit of love to start your day!

Gumball (tuxedo) and Tepig (tortie) are a bonded pair of six-year-old cats who've been at RAWL for almost two years now but they've been together since they were very young. Both Tepig and Gumball are calm, laid-back, and once they get to know you they can be affectionate and gentle. We're hoping there's someone out there willing to open their home to these two so they can spend the rest of their lives with one another!

THANKFUL THURSDAY!

We here at RAWL are always so impressed by the generosity of the Rota military community when it comes to helping us maintain our shelter and grounds. Last Saturday (August 1st) this generosity was once again confirmed when Hannah and Andrew Frare, Wyatt Nannenga, and Jacob and Amanda Brown braved the heat to tear up our old wooden walkway and replace it with a far nicer, safer gravel path!

RAWL is entirely responsible for the maintenance and repair of our facility so we can't thank the Frares, the Browns, and Wyatt enough for everything they accomplished. Our new walkway is a beautiful reminder of our community's willingness to help out and we are so incredibly grateful that Hannah, Andrew, Wyatt, Amanda, and Jacob took the time (and risked the heat!) to make the shelter a better place for all our resident dogs and cats!

Personality: Regina is incredibly sweet and friendly. She's a low-key, good natured cat who gets along with people of all ages and some other cats...she'd do fine with a calm cat friend but definitely no high-energy kittens. She also does not like dogs.

Her hair may be full of secrets but there's nothing mean about Regina...and you can definitely sit with her! Regina is RAWL's newest feline resident and while she's adorable and friendly, we're hoping her stay is a short one!

Regina gets along well with people of all ages and she'd do okay with a calm, quiet cat friend but she's not a fan of dogs nor does she have the patience for energetic kittens. Personality: Scar is friendly, energetic, and very active. He's a typical husky with very big opinions on pretty much everything but he's also extremely loving and just wants attention.

Scar MUST be an only pet. He does not do well with other dogs and chases cats. He is wonderful with children of all ages although since he's very high-energy he may be too much for very young kids.

IMPORTANT: We love to see our orientation sign-up filled with potential volunteers; we also recognize that schedules can change suddenly. If you've signed up for a volunteer orientation but can no longer attend, please let us know via email or Facebook message. That way we can cancel your spot and open it up to others interested in attending! Our last few orientations were fully booked but unfortunately only two or three people actually showed up; we fully understand that things happen and we're more than willing to reschedule but we would love to have those spots available for people who are able to make it so please let us know if you can't attend.
