Rota Animal Welfare League (RAWL) is a non-profit animal care facility on NAVSTA Rota military base sustained entirely by community donations and volunteers.

Our number one mission at RAWL is connecting animals with loving, caring, forever families. Rota Animal Welfare League (RAWL) is an animal shelter that finds homes for dogs and cats, and relies on volunteers of NS Rota, Spain to care for those animals.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CAT SHIFT!

As of now, we have no sign-ups for Saturday and Sunday's cat shifts! If you've completed a volunteer orientation, please consider signing up to help make sure our cats get the care and attention they deserve!

We've split our cat shifts into two sign-ups so the more volunteers we have take those spots, the easier it is on everyone! You can sign up HERE: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/3510261560123/false #/invitation

Again, please only sign up if you've gone through an orientation. If you're interested in volunteering but haven't completed an orientation yet, you can sign up for the next available date HERE: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/5211185500110/false #/invitation

WISHLIST WEDNESDAY

As you may (or may not!) know, RAWL receives no institutional funding/support; we are entirely reliant on the generosity of the Rota military community to continue functioning. Below are the items we need most this week.

Donations can be dropped off any time at our shelter building; the green dog house right outside our gates is checked daily!

We also deeply appreciate any and all financial support!

Thank you once again!

We have our first touchdown!

Paul (Team Air Force) is up 6-0 on Betun (Navy). He wanted to try for the extra point but dogs aren't....great at kicking so he had to settle for six.

If you'd like to help Betun catch up (or help extend Paul's lead), here's how to play!

1. Donate to our doghouse GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/9bd37593e
2. Indicate which team you support by writing "TEAM PAUL" or "TEAM BETUN" in the first or last name fields.
3. If you'd like to keep your donation anonymous but still have it count, you can email us your team at [email protected]

Whichever team/dog has the most points by October 31st will get a special TailGate Party thrown in their honor! But really...all our dogs are winners and with your continued support, we can make sure they have safe and comfortable shelters while they wait for their forever homes!

Thank you once again for all you do!

Our fundraising competition is still going strong! Help us build new dog houses/shelters while supporting your favorite team/military branch!

HOW TO PLAY
1. Donate HERE: https://gofund.me/36636215a
2. Use the field where you include your first and/or last name to indicate whether you're TEAM PAUL (Air Force) or TEAM BETUN (Navy)
3. If you'd prefer to remain anonymous, send an email to [email protected] to have your vote counted.
4. Whoever has the highest score by October 31st will earn a TailGate Party in their honor in November

Thank you once again for your continued support!

I know we usually have a wishlist Wednesday but we're currently extremely low on cat litter; this is all we have for our many, may cats. We deeply appreciate all the donations we receive and the generosity of the Rota military community has never let us down before so if you're able to drop off a few boxes of litter, we would be incredibly grateful!

Thank you for your continued support!

VOLUNTEERS DESPERATELY NEEDED: DOG SHIFT!

We have quite a few open dog shift spots this week, starting with Monday (we have no coverage at all on Monday) and we know our resident dogs will deeply appreciate some of our wonderful volunteers filling those spots (so will our resident board members).

If you've completed a volunteer orientation, please consider signing up for a shift. Without volunteer participation, RAWL's board members simply don't have the time or ability to give our dogs the attention they deserve. Volunteers are necessary to make sure the dogs get the nice long walks and exercise they deserve!

Please ONLY sign up if you've been through an orientation. You can sign up for dog shift HERE: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/102156468042/false #/invitation

If you'd like to start volunteering at RAWL but you haven't been through an orientation, you can sign up for the next available date HERE: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/5211185500110/false #/invitation

And, as ever, thank you so much for your continued support!

04/10/2026

So the Air Force-Navy game is over (and Air Force won, might I add) but the competition here at RAWL continues!

We're more than halfway to our goal and it's all thanks to you, Rota! Now let's get Paul and Betun into their respective endzones and make our new dog houses a reality!

HOW TO PLAY
1. Donate to our GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/25759d704
2. When you make your donation, indicate in one of the name fields whether your Team Paul (Air Force) or Team Betun (Navy). If you'd prefer to keep your donation anonymous but would still like it to count toward the game, you can email us your team at [email protected]
3. Whichever dog has the most points by October 31st will get their own "Tail-Gate" Party in November, a chance for the Rota community to visit our shelter, enjoy some food, and meet our available animals!

Thank you again so much for all your support!
