Educación no-formal de Especialistas para la preparación de Caballos en Terapias Asistidas con Equinos, 2020-2023
Primera reunión. Vilademuls.
La semana pasada, del 25 al 28 de Mayo acogimos en Gerona la primera reunión del Proyecto ERASMUS +. Al encuentro acudieron unos 20 profesionales europeos de las Terapias Asistidas con caballos y del entrenamiento equino. El objetivo del programa es garantizar unos estándares europeos para el bienestar y entrenamiento de los caballos involucrados en terapias e interacciones con humanos.
Desde Proyecto Caballo les invitamos a investigar, debatir y consensuar sobre las bases que garantizan una calidad de vida en los equinos, para poder asegurar equinos saludables y equilibrados en las IAE. Por eso centramos los debates en la sintiencia animal, la calidad de vida, el lenguaje corporal y los indicadores de bienestar.
De acuerdo con estos debates, se abrió una dimensión donde descubrir, atendiendo a la etología, sintiencia y cognición equina, si debemos cualificar o entrenar caballos acompañándolos hacía la mejor versión de ellos mismos.
Queremos agradecer a todos los participantes su colaboración y disposición a la hora de compartir y debatir su visión sobre la sintiencia y cognición de los equinos. Creemos que después de estos tres días tan intensos estamos más cerca de integrar una dimensión ética en las IAE; empezando así a desarrollar un marco europeo común para ofrecer interacciones seguras, protegidas y éticas para caballos y humanos.

Non-formal education of Specialists for the preparation of Horses in Equine Assisted Therapies, 2020-2023
First meeting. Vilademuls. (Spain).
Last week, from May 25 to 28, we hosted the first meeting of the ERASMUS + Project in Gerona. The meeting was attended by about 20 European professionals of Horse Assisted Therapies and equine training. The objective of the program is to guarantee European standards for the well-being and training of horses involved in therapies and interactions with humans.
From Proyecto Caballo we invite them to investigate, debate and agree on the bases that guarantee a quality of life in equines, in order to ensure healthy and balanced equines in E.F.L. (EAAT). That is why we focus our discussions on animal sentience, quality of life, body language and indicators of well-being.
According to these debates and founded on animal sentience and equine cognition it brought up a new dimension, and if we as professionals should qualify or train horses, accompanying them to be the best possible version of themselves.

We would like to thank all the participants for their collaboration and willingness to share and discuss their views on equine sentience and cognition. We believe that after these three intense days we are closer to integrating an ethical dimension in the E.F.L(EAAT). Thus beginning to develop a common European framework to offer safe, secure and ethical interactions for horses and humans.
