Not every rescue story starts with a dog being abandoned or neglected. Sometimes, it's simply someone asking for help. 🐾
Just over two years ago, two little puppies arrived at FFH-5R'S. Their names were Scooby Doo and Shaggy.
They came from a farmer who had an unplanned litter and reached out to the rescue for help finding them homes.
Originally, we were asked to take the whole litter, but thankfully the other puppies found homes before needing to come into our care.
And Scooby and Shaggy? Well, they didn't have to wait long either!
FFH-5R'S helps many accidental and unplanned litters find loving homes.
Sometimes, puppies have families waiting before we've even had the chance to introduce them on social media.
Scooby was one of those lucky boys. But not every puppy is so fortunate.
Here's what Scooby's owner has to say:
"When I was sent a photo of Scooby and Shaggy, I knew straight away that Scooby was meant to be my boy.
One of the things I love about FFH-5R'S is that they help dogs of all ages and breeds, without judging the people who come to them asking for help.
The farmer did the responsible thing by reaching out. But without somewhere like FFH-5R'S to turn to, what would have happened to Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of their litter?
It's something I don't really want to think about.
Scooby was lucky. He was a cute little puppy, and realistically, his age and looks probably would have helped him find a home through another rescue or pound.
But finding a home isn't the only important part of rescue.
Those early weeks and months of a puppy's life are so important. They need attention, socialisation, love, guidance and opportunities to learn about the world around them.
Scooby absolutely adores people. The thought of him potentially spending long periods in a kennel environment, missing out on that interaction during such an important stage of his development, is heartbreaking.
Instead, he had Chelsea.
Someone who didn't just give him food and somewhere to sleep, but spent time with him, gave him affection, introduced basic training and helped guide him through those important early stages.
Chelsea knows how much those early experiences can shape a dog's future, and she does everything she can to give the puppies in her care the best possible start.
Scooby came home to me as a happy, confident little character, and he's grown into the wonderful, slightly crazy boy he is today!
And that's why I want FFH-5R'S to have the chance to secure their own forever home.
Not just for dogs like Scooby, but for the next farmer, family or owner who needs somewhere to turn without fear of being judged.
Because sometimes, asking for help is the kindest thing someone can do for their dog."
This is why FFH-5R'S matters.
Rescue isn't always about saving dogs from terrible situations. Sometimes, it's about preventing those situations from happening in the first place.
It's about giving people a safe place to ask for help, making sure puppies get the care they need and helping dogs find the right homes.
We've helped over 650 dogs find their forever homes. Now we need help securing ours. 🏡
We're fundraising to secure a permanent home for FFH-5R'S so we can continue being there for dogs like Scooby, Shaggy and the many others who will need us in the future.
Because if rescues like ours disappear, who will be there when the next call for help comes?
