This week starts La Feria de Málaga! 💃🏻🌸
And these photos are actually from yesterday, when some of my friends and I got dressed up in our flamenco dresses and headed out to enjoy the Feria together! ❤️💃🏻 There’s nothing quite like seeing the city come alive with colour, music and that unmistakable Feria atmosphere.
Every August, Málaga comes alive for its biggest summer celebration — Feria de Málaga, a week-long fiesta filled with music, dancing, delicious food, drinks, flamenco dresses, and, above all, the celebration of Spanish and Andalusian culture and traditions.
The origins of the Feria date back to 1491, when the city began celebrating the Christian reconquest of Málaga, which took place on 19 August 1487 under Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon.
Before that, Málaga had been a Muslim city for centuries. The conquest was met with fierce resistance, with the defenders holding out in the Alcazaba and surrounding fortifications. Eventually, the city fell to the Christian forces — and a celebration was born.
Today, the Feria is one of the highlights of the Málaga summer. For a whole week, the city is filled with colour, music, dancing and an incredible atmosphere. Whether you’re dressed in a traditional traje de flamenca, dancing in the streets, enjoying tapas with friends, or simply soaking it all in, there is something truly special about Feria! ❤️
¡Viva la Feria! 🎉🇪🇸
I hope some of you get to experience Málaga Feria this year — or perhaps you’ve already enjoyed one of the many wonderful ferias across Spain this summer!
Dream it. Make it happen. Relax. ✨
