Howdy folks.

I find it difficult to just sit and write a post today.
But I have to as dogs lives are on the line.

Today we said goodbye to Tiger Lily.
A dog that has been loved beyond any measure and always loved back in kind. I've known Tiger Lily for 4 years and I would see her and walk her almost every day. I know that she is on the other side of the rainbow bridge barking at those pesky seagulls and chasing balls.

But where one story ends another is peaking from around the corner.

We are still looking to rehome Sasha and Fanta.
Two wonderful dogs that couldn't stay with their family.
I'm mentioning them for two reasons.
I want to ask for your help in paying their bills so they can stay in a nice and calm doggie day care until we find them the right home. Instead of getting chucked in a dog shelter where they will just dissappear in a crowd of other ppp dogs. And eventually wither and die.

We need approximately €610 each month to cover all the expenses.

Here's what we're currently looking at:

Dog hotel: €15 per day for both dogs,

Food: approximately €60 per month for both dogs,

Reserve set aside for unexpected costs (i.e. vet bills, travel, insurance, emergencies): we're hoping to set aside around €100 per month.

Howdy folks.

For more than nine years, Fanta and Sasha have been a part of a family. They have woken up in the same home, played together, shared their people and toys, and with their presence and unconditional love made a house into a home. Now, through no fault of their own, they need someone new to make their life whole.

I need to stress that there is no villain in this story.
There is no naughty dog.
There is no family that simply got bored of their dogs.
There is just a family that loves their dogs and desperately wants to find the right people who will continue loving these two very special souls.

🐾 Fanta, a neutered 10 year old English bull terrier mix, male, is the cheerful, affectionate boy who thinks life is better with a good game of tug and a cuddle afterwards. He loves people, children and other dogs, and what matters most to him is his relationship with his person. He can be a little headstrong, but give him kind, consistent guidance and you'll discover an incredibly sweet boy who simply wants to be close to you.

🐾 Sasha, a spayed 10 year old Staffy mix, female, is a gentle, bouncy girl with a huge heart. She loves chasing balls and falling asleep at your feet. When she's happy, she gives you a smile that looks almost human. She's wonderful with people and children, but she's shy and selective when it comes to other dogs. so she prefers to take her time deciding who her friends are.

Both dogs are house-trained, have good basic obedience and recall, walk well on a lead, and know how to relax at home. They're playful and energetic, but they're also very good at switching off when playtime is over.

This is the part of the story that makes this so heartbreaking. The family welcomed a newborn child last year. The boy has a serious respiratory condition. Despite trying everything, living with dogs is badly affecting his breathing. After an incredibly difficult year, the family has had to make an unbearably painful decision: in order to be able to help their son they needed to find a new home for Fanta and Sasha. 😭
Their family isn't giving the dogs up because they stopped loving them. Quite the opposite. They want to find the best possible home for them where both dogs can thrive.

Fanta and Sasha have given nine years of unconditional love. They're not finished. Not even close.

They still have games of tug to play.
Balls to chase. Feet to sleep beside.
And an enormous amount of love to give.

We would dearly love for them to stay together because after nine years, they have a bond of their own. But ultimately, what matters most is finding them the loving, understanding home they deserve — together if possible, separately if necessary.

They don't need a huge house or a perfect garden. They don't need an experienced dog trainer. They need something much simpler:

Someone who will look at two 10-year-old dogs and see two more chances to be loved. ❤️

Fanta and Sasha are staying at a dog hotel in La Linea.

Howdy folks 🤠

I don't like negativity. That's not to say that I'm oblivious to it. There's so much negativity in my (and probably others') life that I just don't see the need for more if I can help it.

I also shun judgemental people and don't want nothing to do with them. It's easy to be judging others especially having the clairvoyance of hindsight.

Now I believe there is a special place in hell for negative, judgemental pricks who just can't help themselves and have to comment on things they have either no knowledge or business, or both, commenting on.

Just cut a person out of my life (blocking on socials and all that jazz) because after requesting her help with Sasha and Fanta (original post in the comments) she said that it's obvious the dogs owners knew when the baby was born that he won't be able to live in a house with dogs and they should have started looking for a foster or a new home back then.

Please don't be salty dicks/cunts.
Dont judge anyone or anything if you know little to nothing about what's going on.

Haven't been here in a while. Sorry. 🙏

I have a very special announcement to make. If you've been following me for more than 5min you know I don't make posts like this one often. You also know what I think about giving up dogs or even rehoming dogs for ones own convenience (you know I work with a lot of malinois that have become victims of a sick fashion trend).

This is different. And I'm only posting this as a feeler to see if anyone might help. To make long story short one of my clients and a dear friend needs to rehome her two dogs. Yes, NEEDS to. This isn't a whim. Her baby has a rare medical condition that makes it hard for him to breath. Being around dogs is making it even harder for him. My friend didn't made that decision lightly. When they were fighting for their child's life I was taking care of their dogs in their absence. And we never thought it might come to this. But alas this is where we found ourselves. We have little time and we don't want to give the dogs up to a shelter. But I have to admit with a heavy hart this is one of the options that we are considering at the moment.

So if you know anyone who might be interested in adopting dumb and dumber please send them my way. All of the contact information are in my bio.

We w pray to be able to rehome the dogs together but if we have to split them up so be it. Our hearts might not mend fully but if we know they have good lives in their new homes it will make this burden a little easier to carry.

They are both 9 years old.

No chronic medical issues.

Howdy folks...

No emoji at the start of this post as what I'm about to write is serious. It's painful. It's sickening to the core. Think twice about reading further.

There are different dog sports around the world. Mondioring, IGP, schutzhund, AVD etc.
Some sports require pressure to be put on a dog to see if they can stay focused on the task in an adverse environment.

Yesterday I heard about a group out of UK doing trials responsible for one dog dying and another loosing an eye during qualifications for an AVD levels. I'm not gonna get into DETAILS as they are pretty graphic. There's no videos of this as the club forbids any recording or even spectators during qualifications. But they have videos on their Instagram of how they "train". Keeping dogs submerged, setting off flares and spraying dogs with sparks etc.

It's not training. IT'S ABUSE!
Plain and simple.

And I won't stand for something like that. Ever.
And neither should you. React when you see dogs being kicked, punched, hit with sticks or chocked. Don't stand there waiting for someone else to react. If you don't have it in you to confront an abuser record it on your mobile. Shout for help like a life depended on it. Because it might. Maybe not yours, maybe not a person's life. But life of an animal that has been bred to be almost entirely dependant on people. A dog's life.

We must all fear evil people. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear more. And that is the indifference of good folks.

Howdy folks 🤠

Posting about Gimli's progress continues.

I will start with a bit of a preamble. I get asked often how is Gimli's case different from other dogs rescued from the shelter. Well to put it blantly Gimli is the dog who lived. He was supposed to be euthanized because some people only wanted to see his history of bites. They didn't consider that at least half of them were the effect of human error, lack of common sense or negligence. The rest is the environment in which dogs need to live in the shelter. And I know Gimli's not the only dog in this situation. But he won't be the last that we help rehabilitate and find a forever home for. Mark my words.

Had a fab training session yesterday. As I mostly do my training with dogs in a state of arousal on the brink of being overstimulated (just my personal preference) talking to Dani and getting a few pointers on how to quickly calm a dog down in between sets was very informative and something I will absolutely be using from now on. 😊

Gimli has made a ton of friends at Dani's and is very happy there. His heel walk is getting better. His sits and downs are spot on when close. Mirto started training those basics at a distance with him. His stay needs a bit of work. And his recall isn't 100% foolproof. But he hasn't started training with Dani just yet. All of this will change in a week's time and he will be progressing even faster. 😊

We are still looking for donations to cover the cost of Gimli's rehabilitation process. We managed to raise €1100 out of the €2500* that we need. Nearly half way there. 🐺😆

These past couple of days I couldn't go and see Gimli which pains me greatly.
But don't fret. Still have updates for you.

This video shows you exactly why Gimli is a great dog. If you look closely you'll see two situations in this video which are very telling behaviour wise.

Firstly you'll see three dogs drinking out of one bucket without any resource guarding, any stress, nothing. Their tails are wagging slowly, casually, their bodies are loose, ears neutral. If you look at the whole caster all these dogs look comfortable with each other and with sharing the most valuable of resources - water.

Secondly you'll see the absolute masterclass in game theory, engagement and rough play diffusion. Gimli loves playing with the young German shepherd. But the shepherd plays rough. Not wanting to loose a play buddy but also not wanting to escalate what Gimli does is so powerful. He fakes a submissive stance (laying on his back) and when the shepherd comes for him he springs up running away like and making other doge chase him. This shows amazing social intelligence on Gimli's part.

I love this boy.
