Good afternoon, Big Red family. Suella reporting ❤️
I’m pet sitting at the moment, so I’ve had time to sit and go through old photographs—looking at some of our beautiful animals, smiling at the happy memories and, of course, crying over the precious ones we’ve lost. Just having a silly, emotional afternoon really.
You’ll all remember the puppies who came into Big Reds to Tasha around Christmas and New Year—Pebbles, Bam Bam, Parsnip and Betty. Then, of course, along came our PatsiePony.
Pebbles, Parsnip and PatsiePony were all struck down by the dreaded parvovirus. We sadly lost our beautiful Pebbles, and we were absolutely devastated. 💔 At one point, we truly believed we were going to lose all three of them.
But somehow, Parsnip and PatsiePony survived.
That was thanks to our wonderful vet Rita and her husband, Carlos, who took those desperately poorly puppies home and cared for them around the clock—even though they were both unwell themselves. They fought alongside them every minute of every day and gave them the chance to live.
I’ve put together some photographs of Parsnip and PatsiePony when they were tiny, poorly and very new to Big Reds—and some of them now. Just look at them! ❤️
I was lucky enough to see PatsiePony at our reunion, and it was absolutely wonderful. I also saw our beautiful Cecil that day, who has since passed away, so without knowing it at the time, I was given one last precious cuddle with him. That means more to me now than I could ever explain. 💔
This is why I appreciate every single person who follows us, shares our posts, donates, sponsors, volunteers, fosters or supports Big Reds in any way.
Without you, none of this happens. None of it.
These animals would never have received that chance. We couldn’t pay the vet bills, we couldn’t provide the care, and we couldn’t continue saving lives. We wouldn’t have our wonderful Rita and Carlos fighting beside us, or our incredible volunteers making everything possible.
Rescue is fu***ng s**t sometimes. It breaks your heart into a million pieces.
But then you look at Parsnip and PatsiePony, and all that I've visited on this wonderful trip—happy, healthy, loved and living the lives they very nearly lost—and you remember exactly why we keep doing it.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making stories like theirs possible.
And finally…
F**K PARVO. 🖕🦠
Forever loved and never forgotten, beautiful Pebbles Cecil and so,so many more of them. 🌈❤️
