Johan lleva casi cuatro años en Cantalobos esperando a alguien que se mueva tanto como él.

Es un cruce de podenco y pastor suizo de tamaño mediano, cariñoso, castrado y con pasaporte en regla. Aprende rápido — y tiene toda la energía del mundo y una sola pregunta en la cabeza: ¿dónde está la pelota?

No es un perro de sofá. Es el perro que te va a sacar de casa cuando no tienes ganas, el que va a correr contigo, el que va a hacer que el paseo sea lo mejor del día. Y cuando llegues a casa, te lo va a agradecer con toda el alma.

Se lleva bien con Beatriz, su amiga en el refugio. Sabe estar. Solo necesita un hogar activo donde por fin tenga su sitio.

Johan tiene 4 años. Lleva demasiado tiempo esperando.

Johan has been at Cantalobos for almost four years, waiting for someone who moves as much as he does.

He's a medium-sized podenco and Swiss Shepherd cross — affectionate, neutered, and ready to go with EU passport in hand. He's a fast learner, with endless energy and one question on his mind at all times: where is the ball?

He's not a sofa dog. He's the one who'll get you out the door when you can't be bothered, who'll run alongside you, who'll make the walk the best part of your day. And when you get home, he'll thank you for it with everything he has.

He gets on well with Beatriz, his friend at the shelter. He's calm and well-behaved. He just needs an active home where he finally has a place of his own.

Johan is 4 years old. He's been waiting long enough.

Hemos preguntado varios veces para una reunion con el Ayuntamienta, para tener un plan de emergencia listo. Mas que "asegurarnos" que no va ser tan grave, no hemos podido reunir.
Por eso, seguimos con prepararnos de nuestro proprio medidas.
Cada ayuda va en jaulas, mangueras...

Twilight time for Moemoe (grandma).

You came to us, discarded by a hunter (incrusted collar was the proof). You were heavily pregnant and already 11 or 12 years old. You were a perfect mother for the two pups that survived and when they left to go to a new family, we decided that you could stay. You were never very healthy. Your wrist had some broken ligaments and your belly was heavy and extended. Although we tried to find a diagnostic, there was never really a solution for it.

But, you commanded our house dogs for five other years from your bed - sorry throne 😅, you made them respect you, with a low grumble or with bark.
You were always the first wanting to have treats or a little piece of sausage.
I love you in all your quirkiness, and you are the epitome of making the best of any situation.
We'll take every day now as it goes, hoping we can control the pain and give you some extra days as the vet suggests. If not, we will say goodbye...

Llega el ocaso para Moemoe (abuela). Llegaste a nosotros abandonada por un cazador (el collar incrustado era la prueba). Estabas muy embarazada y ya tenías 11 o 12 años. Fuiste una madre perfecta para tus2 bebes que sobrevivieron y, cuando se fueron con una nueva familia, decidimos que podías quedarte.
Nunca tuviste buena salud. Tenías la muñeca con algunos ligamentos rotos y la barriga pesada y delatada. Aunque intentamos encontrar un diagnóstico, nunca hubo una solución definitiva.

Pero, durante otros cinco años, desde tu cama —perdón, tu trono 😅—, mandaste a nuestros perros de la casa, y te hiciste respetar con un gruñido bajo o un ladrido.

Siempre eras la primera en pedir golosinas o un trocito de salchicha.

Te quiero con todas tus peculiaridades, y eres el ejemplo perfecto de cómo sacar lo mejor de cualquier situación.

Viviremos el día a día, esperando poder controlar el dolor y darte algunos días más, como sugiere el veterinario. Si no, nos despediremos...

Betty came to us as a young puppy, one out of ten abandoned in a riverbed. She saw her brothers and sisters getting adopted and for her nobody ever came. Once when she was four years old, she had a tryout but the resident dog really didn't like her so they sent her back for her own good. Now she's still waiting here, almost forgotten, but I want to focus on our incredible character. She's so sweet, she's so loving. She really would make any family very happy to have her around. She is five years old now but for her her life will only start once she gets her family of her own. Please consider her, share her, tell your friends about her. Let's get Betty a home.

Betty llegó a nosotros siendo una cachorrita, una de cada diez abandonadas en el lecho de un río. Vio cómo sus hermanos y hermanas eran adoptados, pero a ella nunca le llegó nadie. Una vez, cuando tenía cuatro años, intentó adoptarla, pero al perro que ya vivía en el refugio no le gustó, así que la devolvieron por su propio bien. Ahora sigue aquí esperando, casi olvidada, pero quiero centrarme en su increíble carácter. Es tan dulce, tan cariñosa. Haría muy feliz a cualquier familia. Ahora tiene cinco años, pero su vida solo empezará cuando encuentre su propia familia. Por favor, considérenla, compartan su historia, cuéntenles a sus amigos sobre ella. ¡Ayudémosle a Betty a encontrar un hogar!

🔥🐾 EMERGENCIA: PREPARARNOS PARA LOS INCENDIOS / EMERGENCY: PREPARING FOR WILDFIRES 🐾🔥

🇪🇸 Estamos destrozados por las noticias de los incendios en Almería y en la zona de Madrid. Todo nuestro cariño para las personas y los animales afectados. 💔

Y no podemos evitar recordar el incendio de hace dos años, cuando las llamas se detuvieron justo antes de llegar a nuestros terrenos (las fotos y el vídeo son de aquel día). Aquella vez tuvimos suerte. No queremos volver a depender de la suerte.

Nuestro refugio de Cantalobos está en plena zona forestal y en él viven 80 perros y 6-8 voluntarios. Hemos preparado un plan de emergencia completo y hemos solicitado por registro una reunión urgente con el Ayuntamiento de Almuñécar — seguimos esperando fecha. Mientras tanto, necesitamos equiparnos, y para eso pedimos vuestra ayuda:

🧯 Extintores y mochilas extintoras forestales
🚿 Mangueras contra incendios para todo el perímetro
⛽ Una motobomba de gasolina (¡la luz se corta en los incendios!)
🚐 Jaulas de transporte para evacuar a 80 perros medianos y grandes
🐕 Bozales de cesta para nuestros perros PPP

🎯 Objetivo: 5.000 €

Y una cosa más: no pensamos solo en nosotros. Hay refugios más pequeños en la zona con menos medios — si el fuego se acerca a ellos, allí estaremos también. Los animales no entienden de vallas. 🤝

We can't help remembering the fire two years ago, when the flames stopped just before reaching our land (the photos and video are from that day). That time we were lucky. We don't want to depend on luck again.

Our Cantalobos refuge sits in the middle of forest land and is home to 80 dogs and 6-8 volunteers. We have prepared a full emergency plan and have formally requested an urgent meeting with Almuñécar Town Hall — we are still waiting for a date. Meanwhile, we need to equip ourselves, and for that we need your help:

🧯 Fire extinguishers and forestry water backpacks
🚿 Fire hoses to reach the whole perimeter
⛽ A petrol water pump (power cuts out during fires!)
🚐 Transport crates to evacuate 80 medium and large dogs
🐕 Basket muzzles for our PPP dogs

🎯 Goal: €5,000

One more thing: we're not only thinking of ourselves. There are smaller refuges in the area with fewer resources — if fire comes near them, we'll be there too. Animals don't understand fences. 🤝
