URGENT: Animal Welfare Concerns at Magic Robin Hood Hotel in Albir

For the past 3 consecutive days we have personally witnessed deeply concerning actions at Magic Robin Hood Hotel in Albir.

An external pest control company, ADDA OPS, was actively trapping cats that have reportedly lived in this area for many years as a registered colony.

What we personally saw:
• Cats were captured in traps and placed inside a ADDA van
• The van was completely closed and left under direct sunlight for more than an hour, with the animals inside and no visible ventilation, while the driver went inside to the management office to do paperwork
• Police and animal welfare representatives arrived, and official complaints were filed on site
• After the police left, the same van returned and continued trapping more cats there
Then the situation escalated further:
• The van driver attempted to run over the animal activist standing in front of the vehicle, creating a serious risk to evryone present
• Animal welfare volunteers were verbally abused and threatened by the hotel staff
• Hotel management facilitated the exit of the vehicle through a rear gate to avoid confrontation

Despite police intervention earlier, the activity continued.

SERIOUS QUESTIONS THAT REQUIRE ANSWERS:

• Where ADDA OPS took the cats?
• What did the do with the animals?
• Do they have in their licence activity permission of removing and relocating colonies?
• Did they have written permission from the City Council to perform the trapping of the resident cats?
• Did the Magic Robin Hood hotel liaised with the City Council about this relocation?
• Did they work with the local Animal Rights & Protection association like APPA to implement TNR program?
• Who gave the orders to call a Pest Control and not local Animal Protection Association?

This situation has already been reported, and police have attended multiple times.

🐾 Stray Cats in the UAE – A Growing Challenge, A Shared Responsibility

Across the UAE, stray cats have become part of everyday life. For many, they inspire kindness and compassion. For others they raise concerns about safety, health, and overpopulation.

✨ The reality?
We, as residents-rescuers, spend tens of thousands of AED every month to feed, sterilize, and care for these animals. We hope that our compassion is inspiring, but it also shows that the problem is too big for us as individuals alone.

🏛️ Change is happening:
• Abu Dhabi has launched a Trap-Neuter-Return program with free sterilization, vaccination, and microchipping.
• Expo City Dubai has built “cat condos” and feeding stations as part of its sustainability mission.
• Animal Welfare Abu Dhabi (AWAD) now brings together volunteers and government support to make a bigger impact.

🐱 Why it matters:
Without proper care, stray populations grow quickly, leading to suffering for the animals and risks for the community. But with education, responsible ownership, and humane solutions, this can change.

As the owner of KittyRescue Association, I want to share a message about the plight of stray cats in our communities. These resilient creatures, often overlooked and misunderstood, face numerous challenges daily. They battle hunger, illness, and the harsh weather, all while trying to survive in a world that often forgets their existence.
But there's hope. Every day, me & my team witness the incredible strength and adaptability of these felines. From the tiniest kitten to the most battle-scarred tomcat, each has a unique story and an unwavering will to live. Their resilience in the face of adversity is truly inspiring.

Stray cats are not just 'strays' - they are living beings deserving of compassion and care. They play a vital role in our urban ecosystems. Many of these cats, with a little love and patience, can transition from street life to becoming cherished family members.

At KittyRescue we urge everyone to open their hearts and minds to these wonderful creatures. Simple acts of kindness can make a world of difference. Providing a bowl of fresh water, a safe shelter during harsh weather, or even just a gentle word can mean everything to a cat struggling to survive on the streets.
