The product is available as flat or biconvex, round, yellow tablets. Each tablet contains 50 mg of praziquantel and 144 mg of pyrantel pamoate. Zoolekar anthelmintic for dogs is available in strip packaging of 3; 6; 9; 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, and 24 tablets. Store the tablets in the manufacturer's packaging, as listed in List B, in a dry, dark place at temperatures ranging from 0°C to 20°C. The tablets have a shelf life of three (3) years from the date of manufacture, provided they are stored properly.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
The anthelmintic "Zoolekar" for dogs has a broad-spectrum anthelmintic effect against all stages of development of roundworms and tapeworms, including: Toxacara canis, Toxaascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dypilidium caninum, Multiceps multiceps, Taenia spp., and Mesocestoides spp. Praziquantel's mechanism of action involves increasing intracellular calcium concentrations, which causes increased contractility of the flatworm muscles, followed by paralysis and death of the parasite. Pyrantel pamoate, included in the tablets, has an N-cholinomimetic effect in the ganglia, leading to active contraction of the nematode muscles, followed by paralysis and death of the worm. The tablets are low-toxic and have no sensitizing or teratogenic properties.
HOW TO USE THE DRUG
The anthelmintic "Zoolekar" for dogs is used for the prophylactic and therapeutic deworming of dogs infected with nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascaris, uncinariasis, ankylostomiasis) and cestodiasis (taeniasis, echinococcosis, dipylidiasis, diphyllobothriasis, mesocestoidiasis, etc.). The tablets are administered orally, once daily, at a rate of 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight, during the morning feeding with a small amount of food (a piece of meat, porridge, or ground meat). If necessary, the tablet can be crushed. No pre-diet or fasting regimen, nor the use of laxatives, is required. For preventative purposes, dogs are dewormed quarterly, as well as before vaccinations (at least 2 weeks) and before mating. To prevent helminthiasis, tablets are administered at the therapeutic dose five days before mating. At the recommended doses, the tablets do not cause side effects. The tablets should not be administered to pregnant bi***es during the first twenty days of pregnancy. In case of overdose or increased individual sensitivity to the drug's components, dogs may experience increased salivation, diarrhea, and depression. If the aforementioned side effects occur, a 0.1% solution of atropine sulfate is administered subcutaneously at a dose of 0.05 ml/kg of animal body weight 2-3 times daily, along with symptomatic therapy.
