Gata is an incredible horse who suffered fractures of both his mandible and maxilla following a trailer accident. He underwent two surgeries to stabilize the fractures and give him the best chance of recovery.

Six months later, Gata returned to have his implants removed. We’re happy to say he made a full recovery and is now back to his normal life, eating comfortably, pain free, and doing everything a horse should.

Severe abdominal distension in this young filly was caused by a large colon displacement with a mild impaction. An exploratory laparotomy was performed to reposition the colon and restore normal anatomy.

She made an excellent recovery and is now back home, where she can continue her rehabilitation.

Lag screw fixation of a subchondral bone cyst in the medial femoral condyle.

The lag screw provides compression and stability across the lesion, promoting bone formation and remodeling while helping prevent further progression of the cyst.

Small wounds near synovial structures can be far more serious than they appear and may become life threatening if not diagnosed and treated promptly. The difference between a simple skin laceration and a communicating synovial wound can be just a few millimetres.

In this case, a synovial contrast study confirmed communication between the wound and the joint, allowing us to initiate the appropriate intensive treatment and give the horse the best possible chance of a successful recovery.
