Help us feed and care for them and return them to health. At the beginning of 2017 the founder, Zeina Emparez, started the shelter with the aim to provide the very needed help to hundreds of cats in the district of Giza. Zeina started this project in a small apartment where she rescued and nursed back to health more than 1200 cats. What started as a small project has grown with the help of sponsors, donors and volunteers in Egypt and in many other countries. Thanks to this, Zee Shelter has been able to find a forever home to more than 800 cats in the past 5 years. In 2019 the efforts made it necessary to look for a bigger, safer place where all cats get the needed food, rest and medical attention, so that they can recover and be prepared for adoption. FROM A CAGE TO SAFETY 🤍🐾

These two beautiful cats have finally been rescued from the cage where they were kept inside a shop. 💔

They were not used to being locked up, and being confined was becoming extremely stressful for them. We couldn’t leave them there.

Today, they are finally safe, free, and surrounded by love. 🥹❤️

And the best part? Today they are starting their vaccination journey with their first dose! 💉🐾

From a small cage… to a safe place where they can finally breathe, relax, and feel what it means to be cared for. 🤍

44 CATS. 44 NEW BEGINNINGS. 🐾✈️🇺🇸

Yesterday, 44 of our rescued cats arrived safely in the USA. ❤️

Rescue is not always beautiful. Behind every happy ending are endless emergencies, sleepless nights, financial struggles, disappointments, and moments when we feel completely exhausted and wonder if everything we’re doing is even enough.

Sometimes, with so little support, it’s easy to feel like all our efforts are going nowhere.

But then comes a day like yesterday.

44 cats arrived safely. 44 lives were given a chance at something better.

Seeing them reach safety and begin a new life makes every difficult moment worth it. Because this is why we rescue — to take animals who had almost no chance and give them the future they deserve. ❤️

Yesterday wasn’t just a journey to America.
It was 44 lives getting a second chance. 🐱🇺🇸

And for us, that means everything.

💔 Our very first rescue… our beginning… our forever memory. 🌈🐾

When we first opened our shelter 9 years ago, he was the very first cat we ever rescued. He was also the first cat we managed to send outside Egypt to start his new life. 🇪🇬❤️🇬🇧

He wasn’t just a rescue. He was the beginning of our journey.

He was the reason we believed that one little life could be changed… and that we could keep going.

Yesterday, after years of being loved and cared for in his forever home in the UK, he peacefully passed away. 💔🌈

We are heartbroken, but also grateful. Grateful that we were there for him at the very beginning, and that he got to know what love, safety and a real home felt like.

You were our first… and you will always be a very special part of Zee Shelter. 🐾❤️

Run free, beautiful boy. 🌈

You will never be forgotten. 💔

We know. Another donation post. 🤍

And honestly, we wish we didn’t have to keep asking.

But the reality is that we have hundreds of cats depending on us, and every single one comes with ongoing needs…vaccines, flea and parasite prevention, deworming, medical care, and above all, FOOD.

And the calls and DMs never stop.

Cats needing to be surrendered. Injured cats found on the streets. Cats who have nowhere else to go.

We don’t want to turn them away. We want to keep helping. We want to keep saying YES when an animal needs us.

But we can’t do it alone.

While we may be predominantly a cat shelter, our hearts (and our doors) are open to dogs, too. 🐶

These sweet faces are just a few of the many wonderful dogs waiting for their forever homes. Each one has their own personality, their own story, and so much love to give.

They may not be the faces you see most often on our page, but they are every bit as deserving of a family to call their own. 🥺❤️

But as we walk through our shelter and see all these beautiful faces, we can’t help but think about the cats who are still waiting. 💔

Every single one has a personality.
A little heart.
A story.
And a life that could be so much more than shelter walls.

For many of these cats, their forever home may be far away. And that’s why international adoption can change everything. ✈️🏡

A journey across borders can mean the beginning of an entirely new life—a warm home, a family, safety, comfort, and the love they’ve been waiting for.
