What every pet owner in Egypt needs to know about rabies
Prevention starts with us. 💛
First thing we need to know:
Egypt is still not rabies-free.
Rabies is a serious disease but it can be prevented.
So what is happening in Egypt?
Egypt has a goal:
Zero human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
Reaching this goal depends on:
💉 Vaccinating free-roaming dogs
✂️ Sterilizing free-roaming dogs (TNR)
🔎 Improving public health and access to treatment
📚 Raising awareness
What about your pet?
Even if they don’t go outside:
Make sure their rabies vaccination is up to date.
And keep up with their vaccination schedule with your veterinarian.
Were you bitten or scratched?
1. Wash the wound with soap and water for at least 15 minutes.
2. Go immediately to the nearest public clinic or government hospital to receive rabies vaccination.
3. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear.
Post-exposure prevention can prevent rabies from developing if started in time.
Rabies can be prevented.
💉 Vaccinate your pet
🐕 Help vaccinate free-roaming dogs in your area

Prevention is everyone’s responsibility. 💛
