WHY RIDE ANDES? Because experience matters 🐎🗻

Ride Andes has been leading horseback journeys across South America since 1996, long before riding holidays became fashionable.

Over nearly three decades, Sally has built routes, relationships and trusted local teams across the Andes that simply cannot be replicated overnight. Many of the horsemen working alongside Ride Andes today have been part of these journeys for years.

There is a certain ease that comes with that level of experience.

Guests are met at the airport, transferred seamlessly between destinations and welcomed into beautiful historic haciendas at the end of long riding days. “We had a great time riding with Ride Andes in Cotopaxi National Park. We had Park Access which is a thing in itself. Most groups ride around [outside] the Park or have very short rides in the Park. We had long, exhilarating rides in all gaits on fit, responsive and well-trained mounts. Our guides were great and anticipated and provided for all our needs. This is what our beautiful home looks like✨🐎🌋
With majestic Cayambe volcano as our backdrop, this is where most of our riding programs start: First, because it‘s a beautiful area full of rich cultural heritage you can have a glimpse on almost every ride whenever we meet locals herding their cows, as they wear their traditional, colorful dresses. Second, because even this area is at an altitude of 3000+m, and as the Cotopaxi National Park is even higher (we typically canter on over 4000m, perhaps the highest canter in the world??) - it‘s mandatory to acclimatize first while enjoying the Cayambe region on horseback.🤠

„My husband and I spent a week with Sally in Ecuador, and the experience was absolutely spectacular and unique. It’s a fantastic way to explore this beautiful country, and the riding was incredible. Get in touch with Sally, as she can easily tailor a trip to suit your needs. And don’t worry about the weather—it was consistently much better than the forecast during the three weeks we spent in Ecuador, and apparently that’s a common theme haha.
Trip: We rode for three days in the Zuleta Valley, followed by four days in Cotopaxi. The northern valleys are stunning, offering amazing views and plenty of opportunities to experience the local culture and way of life. The riding pace tends to be on the slower side due to the mountainous terrain. Cotopaxi is spectacular—truly the nature experience we were looking for: remote, full of wildlife (horses, deer, foxes, birds), wide open plains for faster riding, and surprisingly diverse landscapes—unbelievable!
Riding: Sally leads most of the tours and truly cares about the horses. They are all wonderful, healthy, and reliable. The tack is in great condition and very comfortable. I’m an experienced rider, while my husband is a beginner but athletic and adventurous. Sally and her team did a fantastic job matching us with the right horses, and we always felt comfortable, safe, and excited. We had the chance to ride several different horses, and they were all fantastic—well-suited to our abilities, responsive, and dependable.
Accommodation: We stayed in a different place each night, and every one of them was unique and truly lovely. The food is excellent and plentiful! Breakfasts are always generous, Sally provides varied, healthy, and delicious lunches, and dinner is usually a three-course meal.
If you’re considering a trip with Ride Andes, I highly recommend going for it. The value is excellent, everything is well organized, and the experience is very personal, with great attention to your individual needs. And the time you’ll spend galloping on your new equine companion among wild horses and Andean condors beneath snow-capped volcanoes is simply priceless.„
