Not every mare follows the same path when it comes to breeding.

OPU + ICSI can offer new possibilities in situations where traditional breeding is difficult or not ideal - for example with competition mares, older mares, or mares facing fertility challenges.

At VetEmbryo, every decision is made with respect for the horse, the genetics, and the responsibility that comes with advanced breeding techniques.

Did you know? 🧠

In some cases, it is possible to collect oocytes from a mare after she has been euthanized.

If the ovaries are collected and handled correctly shortly after euthanasia, the oocytes can still be used for ICSI, giving breeders one final opportunity to preserve valuable genetics.

While this is never the outcome anyone hopes for, it can provide comfort in a difficult situation and help continue an important bloodline.

As an additional safeguard, we use a heart rate monitor throughout the procedure.
