These were in our story yesterday right after hatching, but we had to bring them back as a Reel.

I remember seeing Justin post the first one 7 years ago and wanting one ever since. And finally, after several tries, we hit a Starburst and the Starburst Black Head version as well.

Definitely worth the wait. Now they just need to prove out het Clown.

Sable Hypo Clown het DG

The colors on this one are absolutely insane. You really need to see the comparison with a regular Hypo Clown to appreciate the difference.

Sable doesn’t just add pattern, it completely changes the overall coloration of Hypo Clowns and brings out a whole new look.

Building this project step by step. I was never really a sucker for Axanthic, but ever since the Axa DG was made, this combo has been an absolute winner.

Meanwhile, we’re working on different Axa DG combos: Clown, Hypo & Monsoon.

This year, we were lucky enough to add more genes to the project, like this one:

Mystic TSK/Black Axanthic dh DG Clown

It’s still early days, but just imagine all those crazy Clown combos as Axa DGs, Axa Hypos or even Axa DG Hypos. 🤯

I guess I’ll be 5 years older before we start seeing plenty of them! 😂

And that’s exactly what makes this project so exciting.

To be honest, this one turned out to be a real surprise. I definitely didn’t expect to see a dolphin-colored combo from this pairing, but HRA is doing a fantastic job with the colors here! This little fella needs a name. I’m thinking „Boto“ named after the famous Amazon river dolphin 🐬, because the coloration matches perfectly. What do you think? Black Head Copper GHI Leopard Clown het Lavender

This one was on my wishlist when planning our 2026 pairings. The mission is to combine these genes and take our Lavender Clown project to the next level.

As so often in breeding, the journey is the goal. And in this case, I’m already incredibly happy with the outcome. Knowing that this animal brings us one step closer to the double visual goal makes me even more excited about where this project can go.
