🦎 PROTERRA World Tour: How big is an emerald tree monitor? 💚

Adult sizes of tree monitors are a frequently asked question by reptile keepers. The emerald tree monitor (Varanus prasinus) usually reaches a total length of about 80 to 100 centimeters, with more than half of it’s length being their long, slim tail. They use their tails for climbing and also as a balancing aid in the treetops.

The actual body length without tail is significantly shorter, usually maxing out around 30 to 40cm. Therefore the emerald tree monitor is one of the smaller representatives of this genus, which clearly distinguishes it from larger species such as Komodo dragons.
