🇺🇸 Sometimes, you’re simply proud.
Proud when all the hard work begins to pay off and you realize that your training concept is working. Today was one of those days.
Even though the conditions were far from ideal, Katja and I headed out once again for some sunset tracking. The field was extremely dry, rough and covered in straw – yet both dogs did a truly amazing job.
I was especially proud of Barun today. That was such a great track! Moments like these remind you exactly why you put in all the work.
The perfect way to end the day – relaxed, happy and with a very proud heart.

Genau solche Momente zeigen, wofür man trainiert.

Katja is wearing the Summer training vest and I am wearing my beloved IQ training belt as well as the black and white mesh cap.

🇺🇸 I swear, this dog can smile! Can yours too?
Barun has the funniest facial expressions anyway. You can read every single mood on his face: annoyed, amused, offended, overjoyed, tired, not in the mood, stubborn, cheeky, or completely switched on… All I have to do is look at him and I know exactly what’s going on.
Tarangi’s expressions aren’t quite as wildly animated as his…

🇺🇸 Sometimes the best memories are the ones you didn’t plan for.
We hadn’t booked a photographer for the VDH DM, so we were even happier to find out that Lea Kazurki had captured these moments by chance and that we could purchase the photos afterwards. 📸

A little memory of our obedience – and of a competition weekend we definitely won’t forget anytime soon.

Still incredibly proud of Barun. In those temperatures, he pushed through and we fought as a team! 🖤🐾

Sometimes dog sport is about so much more than points.

This past weekend is one I will probably never forget.

The VDH German Championship is one of the biggest and most demanding events in German IGP. The best teams in the country compete here, and that’s exactly why, after the World Championship, deciding to step onto such a big stage again wasn’t an easy decision.

The World Championship left its marks. Not because I ever doubted Barun, but because after a setback you suddenly hear all the voices – the ones in your own head and the ones from the outside. The people who are just waiting for something to go wrong. You hear them all.

And yet… we entered.

With a fever, a bad cold, plenty of doubts and quite a few fears. But also with the certainty of how much work, dedication and countless hours of training this dog carries within him—and what he is truly capable of.

In the end, we came home with an overall “Good” (240 points) and 43rd place out of 77 competitors. Everyone who was there knows that nothing was handed out at this championship—not even half a point.

That’s why today I’m simply proud.

Proud of Barun. Proud that we had the courage to face this challenge. And honestly, a little proud that my nerves somehow held together until the very end.

Something many people forget is that our dogs don’t feel the pressure we do. They don’t know about championships, expectations or people judging them. They simply do their very best that day… or sometimes whatever else happens to pop into their minds. ❤️🫣😆

That’s why I have nothing but respect for every single team that qualified and stepped onto that field. Every one of you earned your place there. Congratulations to you all.

A huge thank you also goes to the Dobermann team. This championship was filled with teamwork, support and true sportsmanship. That’s exactly how our sport should be. Congratulations to all of you—you did an amazing job and proved once again what incredible working dogs Dobermanns truly are.

A special thank you to our team leader Bernhard Flinks for all his support and dedication, and of course to the DMC for organizing such an outstanding event and for taking such great care of our dogs in the summer heat.

Thank you to everyone who trained with us, supported us, worried with us and believed in us over the last few weeks.

A very special thank you goes to my club, HSV Sommerried, for always having our backs throughout our preparation and supporting us whenever we needed it.

My biggest thank you goes to Stefan Brückmann ! Your calmness, positivity and endless commitment made such a huge difference. Thank you for always believing in us and for helping Barun become the dog he is today.

Thank you to Patricia Pehrsson and Knabl for your friendship, your help and for always being there. And of course, congratulations on your incredible results!

Thank you to my favourite „tracking buddy-FF“, Katja Kober. It honestly feels like we’ve been living out in the fields for the past few weeks. I’m so happy that all the hard work paid off for both of us. Congratulations on your fantastic performance!

And thank you to Nicole Kl for your friendship and for trusting me with such an extraordinary dog. 4th place at the German Championship, World Championship competitor and now VDH Championship… a Dobermann definitely has to bring something special to achieve that.

If I’ve forgotten anyone, please know that I’m grateful. Thank you to my friends, family, training partners, supporters and everyone who has been part of this journey.

Now it’s finally time to take a deep breath. Barun has earned a few days of simply being a dog.

And honestly… so have I.

I’m completely exhausted.

❤️ Thank you for everything.

And here’s to Barun! 🍻❤️

You little rascal… you really pulled it off. You passed the VDH German Championship!

🇺🇸 Tonight, my heart beats a little more French. 🇫🇷❤️
I’m so happy to watch France vs. Spain tonight surrounded by my chosen family, my little sister, and of course my four-legged supporter. 🐶

Not everyone knows that I’m half French. French was actually my very first language. Even though I’ve forgotten quite a few words over the years—and I’d probably need to spend a few months in France to bring everything back—it still feels natural. It’s part of who I am.

I think my French side still shows every single day: in my creative chaos, my dreamy personality, my sense of humor (which is probably why many Germans don’t always get my jokes 😂), my love for good food, and countless little habits, gestures, and ways of thinking.

Anyone who grows up between different cultures knows this feeling. You’re never just one thing. In my case, it’s even three cultures. You belong to all of them, yet never completely to just one—and if one part were missing, you’d always feel it.

So tonight I’m cheering with all my heart for the team that represents a part of my own story—the country my mother comes from.

Allez les Bleus! 💙🤍❤️ Vive la France! 🇫🇷

🇺🇸 POV: Jetlag. 🥱 Hotel room. Waiting for my wake-up call.. ✈️
So… what do you do? Scroll through your camera roll. 📱😂
And then this masterpiece pops up. 🤣
Too good to let it disappear into the depths of my phone.
Me sending Barun out on the Long Attack with his trusted helper Stefan Brückmann. 💥🐕🔥
I’d say… not too shabby. 😎
Huge thanks to Stefan for always giving 100% and supporting the whole HSV Sommerried crew. So awesome 🙌👏
I know especially us cost you some nerves… 😅🤘

🇩🇪POV: Jetlag. 🥱 Im Hotelzimmer. Warten auf den Weckruf. ✈️
Also macht man das, was jeder macht: durchs Handy scrollen. 📱😂
Barun auf der langen Flucht – mit Helfer Stefan Brückmann. 💥🐕
Kann man schon so stehen lassen. 😎

🇺🇸 Today feels a little more thoughtful.
Perhaps because some words don’t come from the mind, but from a place in the heart that has carried so much in silence. These are words from my heart. Not because the journey was always easy, but because today I can truly say: I am okay. More than okay. And the most beautiful part is that I genuinely feel it.
At first, being alone is frightening, goodbyes hurt.
When everything around you becomes quiet, everything inside you often becomes louder. Thoughts race, memories resurface, doubts find their way in. You don’t meet yourself as an old friend right away. Sometimes, it feels more like stepping into a room you’ve avoided for far too long.
But somewhere along the journey, something begins to change.
You stop experiencing your own company as emptiness. You start listening to yourself again. You begin to notice yourself. Little by little, you find your way back to the life that has always been yours—not all at once, but gently, honestly, one step at a time.
Being alone slowly becomes being whole.
And one day you realize that you have reclaimed the space within your own life that always belonged to you. You no longer wait for someone else to be there when you need strength the most. You become that person for yourself.
Not out of pride. Not because you’ve built walls. But because you’ve found peace.
And perhaps that is the greatest realization of all: being alone does not mean being abandoned. Sometimes, it simply means finding your way home to yourself.
And once you arrive there, it doesn’t feel empty anymore.
It feels expansive.
It feels like freedom.
