ADVANTAGES OF PIG PRODUCTION 👌🏾🐖

Pigs can produce many offspring within a short interval compared to other farm species
Pigs can consume a large variety of diets when compared to other far species. This is particularly important since the high cost and scarcity of grains and concentrates are major constraints to profitable livestock farming in the tropics. They are the most efficient animals for converting kitchen waste and other non-conventional feedstuff into meat
The pig produces more carcass yield (70%) when compared to cattle (50-55%), sheep and goat (50%). In addition, pig carcasses have a smaller proportion of bone and higher proportion of edible meat
Pig carcasses are easier to dress and have superior curing quality, an obvious advantage for processing and marketing
Pigs adapt easily to most environmental conditions such as the harsh tropical climates
Pig f***s makes very rich manure for crops and can also be recycled into livestock feed

PIG FARMING IS A GOLDMINE IN AFRICA 🪙

WHY CHOOSE PIG PIG PRODUCTION ?

POTENTIALS OF PIGS 🐖🐖🐖
Pigs produce meat without contributing to the deterioration of the natural grazing lands and are less affected by seasonal changes
They are fast growing. They convert concentrate feed to pork twice as efficiently as ruminants
They have high fecundity and prolificacy and short generation interval. Their output in terms of yield of meat per tonne of live-weight of breeding female per year is in the region of six times that of cattle.
They have a quicker turn-over rate on investment as compared to cattle
Their relatively small size, when compared with cattle, provides for more flexibility in marketing and consumption
