The Frozen Treat Towel 🥶🐶
If it's warm where you are right now, let's get one thing out of the way first: You do not need to feel guilty for skipping the long walk today. 🙅♀️
I know the mental tug-of-war — "but we always walk at this time," "but he'll be bored," "but what will the neighbours think."
Ignore all of it. In hot weather, your dog is genuinely better off without a long walk or a training session in the heat. So today, give yourself full permission to skip it.
(Your dog still needs their toilet breaks, of course — minimum 4–5 times a day (more if you have a puppy/young dog or senior dog).
Instead, let's give that clever brain something fun to chew on. Literally.
Today's activity: The Frozen Treat Towel
Here's what you'll need:
➡️ An old towel, blanket, or bit of fabric you don't mind getting a little messy
➡️ Something spreadable — cream cheese, liver pâté, or whatever tasty things you've got in the fridge
Spread your chosen goodies across the towel, roll it up into a ball (as tightly as you can manage without losing your patience), and pop it in the freezer overnight.
The next day, you'll have a big, cold, thoroughly intriguing treat ball waiting for your dog — something to sniff, lick, chew, and generally interrogate for a good while.
It's cooling and it's mentally stimulating.
My dogs always loved this! 😍. Unfortunately I don't have these photos of my own dogs on this PC, so the picture used in this post is made by AI for illustration purposes.
However - please do share your own pictures of Treat Towels (or sheets) in the comments! I'd love to see them! 🥰🤩🐶
