He didn’t ask for permission.
Didn’t hesitate.
Didn’t even look around to see if it was okay.

He just quietly walked over, circled once like only a Border Collie does when it’s settling in, and then gently lowered himself right on top of his brother—like he had just discovered the softest, warmest pillow in the world.

And his brother?
Didn’t move.
Didn’t protest.
Didn’t even sigh.

Just stayed there, calm and patient, letting his sibling rest like it was the most natural thing in the world.

That’s the thing about Border Collies—they’re known for their intelligence, their energy, their incredible focus… but moments like this remind you they also have the softest hearts. Beneath all that drive is a deep sense of connection, of trust, of quiet companionship.

Because this wasn’t just about getting comfortable.
It was about feeling safe.
Safe enough to fall asleep in the most vulnerable way possible—right on top of your best friend.

And maybe even more special?
It was about having a brother who loves you enough to let you.

No boundaries.
No complaints.
Just pure patience and love.

Honestly… this might be the sweetest dog moment you’ll see today.

Tell me would your dog be this patient? 🐶❤️

Whoever shared this duck toy, thank you so much 😭

My collie literally destroy every toy I buy for him. Some last few days, some dont even survive few hours lol. So when I bought this one I was like okay lets see how long this duck can survive 😂

Its been over a month now and somehow its still alive!!
And now he is completely obsessed with it. He carry it everywhere, sleep with it and sometimes even bring it to me like he wants to show his best friend 😭

Never thought one toy could actually win against my dog but this duck did 😂 honestly one of the best thing I bought for him. Thank you again 🥰🦆

Meet my girl 🐾💙
Got her from Craigslist and she’s honestly the sweetest, happiest, and most athletic dog ever! She’s full of energy and love.

One thing I’ve noticed though—her feet seem to poke out a bit, and I’m wondering if that could cause problems later on 🤔 Maybe something like swim therapy could help?

Also curious… do you think she looks like a Border Collie? 👀

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences! 🐶👇

I’ve gone back and forth for days about sharing this… but so many of you have been part of mine and Delilah’s journey, and you deserve to know ❤️

Delilah has been fighting health issues for most of her life. What started as allergy testing opened the door to years of vet visits, specialists, and constant trial-and-error treatments. She’s an incredibly complex little soul, and even her vets work together to figure out what might help her — hoping each step gives her some comfort.

Lately, things have been getting harder. Her health is declining, especially neurologically and with her stomach. She’s on a lot of medication, but it’s taking a toll. Her belly is swollen, her appetite is almost gone, and she sleeps most of the day. Even excitement can leave her disoriented. And now, the treatments that once helped don’t seem to be working like they used to.

I spoke with her primary vet — someone I trust deeply — and while she was gentle, she was also honest. Delilah has an ultrasound scheduled on the 8th so we can better understand what’s happening inside. There are some concerns about what we might find, and I’m trying to prepare myself.

I’m still hoping for good news… but I also have to be realistic. My sweet girl is 8 years old, and she’s been so strong for so long. But she’s tired. And if the results come back the way we fear, I’ll have to make the hardest — and most loving — decision for her.

For now, we’re cherishing every moment we have left together 🤍
And maybe, just maybe, she’ll surprise us like she always does.

Thank you all for loving her along the way.

He is growing FAST.

A family member said he was an Australian Shepherd but the veterinary confirmed to be a healthy Border Collie Blue Merle 🙂

She's coming home with me tomorrow and still doesn't have a name! Normally I name pets with names from fantasy franchises or nature inspired names, but I'm really not sure with her. The top contenders at the moment are Arrow, Coral and Fern but that's probably going to change tomorrow. How did you come up with your pup's name?

This is Zip aka Mr. Buddy. He’s 17yo and doing great for his age. He does have some significant health issues which I am choosing not to treat due to his age and the high cost of treatment, but clinically he appears to be comfortable and not in pain. He still gets out for light walks and brief games of fetch, but mostly just sleeps.

We have regular check-ins with our vet and she has stated that he doesn’t look like a dog who needs to be put down just yet, but she will go ahead and do it if I choose. She has also shared a few quality of life resources with me to help me decide when the time is right.

At this point in time, he is doing just fine and it’s entirely possible he could stick around comfortably until next summer. He has also far exceeded the average life span for a border collie and his time could come any day now. I am conflicted as to when to put him down due to external factors. I live in rural Alaska and the nearest vet is 2 hours away. Winter will be here by late October (if not sooner) and it’s not uncommon to get trapped in town for 1-2 weeks at a time if we have a big snow storm.

My biggest fear is that I’m going to wake up one morning this winter to find his health has taken a turn and he’s suffering - and that I may not be able to make it to the emergency vet for euthanasia in a timely manner if I am trapped in town due to unsafe road conditions. The very real possibility of him suffering for days or weeks is more than I can handle and I am considering putting him down before winter so we can end things on a good note.

I try not to speculate on things like that too much, but had a traumatic experience putting down my other border collie a couple of years ago. She was in great health, but one morning I just woke up and she couldn’t walk and was very ill. I took her to the emergency vet immediately. I slept in my car for 3 nights and chucked thousands of dollars towards diagnostic testing only to find out that she had advanced liver cancer and there was not a doctor in Alaska who could treat her. She had to be euthanized and it absolutely devastated me - I’m still not completely over it. I adored that dog and was so heartbroken I missed 10 days of work during a blackout period which almost got me fired. My biggest regret is that I let her suffer for 3 days instead of just putting her down immediately.

This past experience has left me wanting more control over future situations, so I think I would prefer to go ahead and schedule a euthanasia appointment with our vet before winter sets in, but it’s a tough call and I’m feeling quite conflicted over it. So, fellow border collie parents of Reddit, wwyd in my situation? Is it inhumane for me to go ahead and euthanize him when he’s in decent health due to my personal fears and external factors?
