One of my favourite moments happens at the end of almost every appointment.

The reunion. 😊

The tail wag, the excited wiggle. The look that says: "There you are!"

We get to spend a few hours caring for these dogs.

Then we get to watch them go back to the people they love most.

It's a small moment.

But it's one of the best parts of the job.

It's listening.

Not with words.

With observation.

Dogs communicate with us constantly.

Dogs have always fascinated me.

They forgive.

They trust.

They love without keeping score.

They don't care what kind of day you've had.

They don't care what you look like.

They don't care if you're successful.

They simply show up and love the people they care about.
Sometimes I think dogs are a reminder of how we should treat each other.
And honestly, I think the world could use a little more of that.

They're the seniors.

The anxious dogs.

The dogs who need extra time.

The dogs who can't stand as long as they used to.

The dogs who need a little more patience than they did five years ago.

And honestly?

Those are often the dogs that teach us the most.

Every dog deserves to be cared for with kindness, especially when life gets a little harder.

Sometimes it's the nervous dog who stayed a little calmer.

The puppy who learned something new.

The senior dog who stayed comfortable.

The anxious dog who decided maybe this place isn't so scary after all.

Those moments matter.

Because grooming isn't just about today.

It's about helping dogs feel safe enough to come back tomorrow.

One of my favourite things about this job has nothing to do with grooming.

It's watching people love their dogs.

The way they talk about them.

The way they worry about them.

The way they celebrate them.

The way they miss them while they're here.

Dogs become family in a way that's hard to explain to someone who has never loved one.

We get the privilege of caring for a very important member of that family, and that's something we'll never take for granted.

They don't know why we're doing any of it.

They simply trust that we won't hurt them.

That's a responsibility we never take lightly.

Every dog that walks through our door is trusting us with something important, and we believe they deserve patience, kindness, and respect in return.

A lot of shedding problems actually start at the skin level.

When undercoat, oil, and dead skin start building up together, coats become heavier, harder to dry properly, and more difficult to brush out comfortably.

For dogs going through seasonal coat changes, a proper deshed isn’t just “more brushing.” It’s the combination of:
• deep cleansing
• coat release
• proper drying
• and safely removing loose undercoat without damaging the coat or irritating the skin

This handsome guy had a LOT of coat ready to let go 😅
