Some households are just very committed to doing everything together.
These two came in from the same family, got through their appointments, and then immediately settled into the same post-groom plan:
Find a spot on the floor.
Lie down.
Do absolutely nothing.
Different sizes. Same energy.

Somewhere along the way, short-haired dogs got themselves a very good PR department. 😂
Apparently if you don’t need a haircut, you don’t need grooming.
Tell that to the Lab who just left half of himself on our drying room floor.
Short coats can still shed like crazy, build up dead coat, get greasy, collect dirt, need nail care, ear care, and benefit hugely from a really thorough bath and dry.
They may not need scissors, but that definitely doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do.
Some of our biggest “wow, look at all that hair” moments come from dogs who walked in looking like they barely needed anything at all.

Thirteen is a pretty big deal, and this sweet girl deserves a little birthday spotlight.
She’s one of those dogs who has been part of our salon life for so long that seeing her walk through the door just feels familiar.
There’s something really special about getting to know dogs over the years and watching them grow older while still being very much themselves.
Happy birthday, Sadie. We hope you were spoiled appropriately. ❤️

What should you actually tell your groomer at drop-off?
You definitely do not need to give us your dog’s entire biography every time you come in. 😂
But there are a few things we really do want to know if they’ve changed since the last appointment.
If your dog has started a new medication, has a sore spot, has had an injury, has been unusually sensitive somewhere, is having a skin flare-up, or has suddenly started reacting differently to being handled, tell us.
Those little details can change how we approach the groom.
Sometimes it means we avoid putting pressure on a certain area. Sometimes we change the order we do things. Sometimes we slow down or modify the groom a bit. And sometimes it simply gives us a heads-up that your dog may be feeling different than usual.
You don’t have to know exactly what’s wrong.
Just tell us what you’ve noticed.
That information can be incredibly helpful.

The things we do for a good dog picture. 😂
This is Maggie, and she was apparently not interested in cooperating with my plans for a nice after-groom photo.
I tried her name. I tried treats. I tried the usual ridiculous groomer noises. Nothing.
Eventually I made a noise so strange that I honestly don’t know where it came from, and Maggie finally looked directly at me like, what the heck was that?
Perfect. Got the picture. 😂
What you see on social media is the nice finished shot. What you don’t see is the grown woman behind the camera making noises that would be difficult to explain to another adult.

Your dog has reviewed the menu and would like to confirm that they are, in fact, invited. 😂
They are also available for turkey inspection, floor cleanup and general supervision of anyone opening the fridge.
Payment may be made in small, dog-safe portions.

A small dog does not necessarily mean a quick groom.
There’s still a proper bath, a really thorough rinse, drying all the way through the coat, nails, ears, brushing, combing, the haircut itself and all the little finishing work that makes everything come together.
And somewhere in there, the dog gets a vote too. 😂
Some are happy to stand there and let us work. Some need breaks. Some need a little extra time for certain things.
We’re not interested in seeing how fast we can get a dog out the door.

This review meant a lot to us.
Not because we “did something another groomer couldn’t.” Different dogs respond differently to different people, environments and approaches, and sometimes the fit just isn’t right.
What meant something to us was knowing these two senior dogs were able to have their grooms completed in a way that worked for them.
A lot of what we do comes down to paying attention. Watching what the dog is telling us. Knowing when we can ask for a little more, when we need to change what we’re doing, and when something just isn’t important enough to push.
There’s no magic trick to that.
It takes time, patience, experience, and a real commitment to doing the job well.
We take a lot of pride in our work, and reviews like this remind us why that matters.

This dryer has seen things.
This week Tyler was drying a dog on the table when the dog decided that was the perfect moment to p**p.
Unfortunately, the force dryer was also running.
I’m going to let you take a second and picture what happened next. 😂
There was p**p on the table. P**p in the air. P**p in places p**p had absolutely no business being.
A full-on f***l fiasco!
Nobody was hurt, the dog was fine, and eventually everything was cleaned and disinfected.
Tyler may never be the same.
Just another glamorous day in professional dog grooming. 😂
