🎉Happy New Year! This past year was Kat's Kritters Rescue's 12th full year of operations. Where does the time go? I want to send thanks to everyone that supported the rescue/sanctuary in any way. Whether you made a single donation during the year, donated monthly, donated directly to our vet bills, sponsored a Kritter, donated supplies, or supported a fundraiser, every single item or dollar donated went directly to the care of the over 60 animals currently calling KKR home. Thank you to those that picked up/delivered donations or did supply runs for me, or volunteered their time to make fundraising items or attend events on the rescue's behalf. Tremendous thanks goes out to the Winkler Vet Clinic for their continued support and care for the Kritters as our main veterinary partner! Thank you to Discovery Automotive Centre, Winkler Vet, Carman Vet, Karen, and Laura for allowing donations to be dropped off at their locations. Thank you to Pet Valu Marion and Southdale locations for regular supply donations and for supporting the rescue during PAWS month and to Pet Valu Winkler for supporting us during Companions for Change month. Also, receiving the amazing support from Feed the Furbabies Canada, Pet Valu Bridgwater, Meadowood, Sage Creek, Selkirk, Taylor, and Winkler during December for the Care for Kritters Project again this year makes such a huge impact on our sustainability!
2025 saw some difficult losses, including long time resident Pops, feral kitty Spicy, Paprika, and Maggie. I also had a difficult year personally with both of my remaining senior dogs, Cody and Jasper, crossing the rainbow bridge. Later in the year, my sole remaining personal pet, my senior cat Tony, was diagnosed with cancer. He is currently still fighting. I also faced some personal health challenges that I continue to work through and will be prioritizing this coming year so that I can ensure I am able to continue to provide care for the sanctuary animals for as long as they need me. Thank you for your understanding and patience. I am truly doing my very best.
Thank you again to everyone for your support. It is only because of you that these deserving Kritters can have their needs met and live the enriching, healthy, happy lives they so deserve. Your support also allows me to continue trapping and spaying/neutering in the surrounding areas to prevent more animals from being born into lives of suffering.
I hope I can continue to count on your support in 2026! I recognize times are tough for many, and I am honoured any time someone chooses to donate to help me continue to help animals in need. Please know that even your kind, supportive words have an impact and can help make this difficult journey easier.
Wishing everyone the very best for 2026! Be kind, be compassionate, and keep doing your best. You are doing great! ♥️
🐾 And keep your eyes on the page for some exciting stuff in 2026! Thanks to an extremely generous donation recently received towards the catio build, this project is now a go and, if things fall into place, construction will hopefully start in the spring or early summer!
