We wanted to share some information for our followers that may not know that our rescue is the parent rescue of the Manitoba Basset Hound Rescue!

Trina who oversees the intake and adoptions of this division of our rescue has been a little busy over the last 5 weeks! We have taken in 4 basset hounds and all of them are so sweet!

Check out the rescue's post to learn more about Scarlett and the other three dogs that came into our care and learn more about how you can help us with covering their vet care.

The Manitoba Basset Hound Rescue will have 2026 Grey Cup Pool tickets available as a fundraiser very soon. Our rescue will also be selling tickets as well.

Message us if you have any inquiries about the dogs in our care or if you are interested in making a donation to the rescue or helping us fundraise!

Oh... hai! 👋

Scarlet didn't want us to share this photo (she thinks it's not her best side) but we wanted to let everyone know that she is recovering well from her spay surgery yesterday! No more being part of a backyard breeder for her!!! 👏

Scarlet came into the rescue with Walter two weeks ago today. They are both settling in well into their respective foster homes and really enjoying being little couch potatoes inbetween long walks and zoomie sessions. Both of them are sweet hounds full of character and we're so glad we get to help them find their forever homes.

All this though... comes at a cost.

We have taken in three basset hounds in the last five weeks. The average cost of their inital vetting and vaccinations has been just under $400 each (almost $1,200), as well we have the cost of yesterday's spay surgery. Walter will still need to be neutered and... we have atleast one more basset hound coming in today who will also need to be fully vetted and fixed, bringing us well into over $2,000 in recent costs, not including food.

Help us continue to help other basset hounds in need by donating to the rescue today!

Donations can be made to our parent rescue - the Boston Terrier and Pug Rescue of Southern Manitoba via e-transfer [email protected] or if you'd prefer, donations can be made directly to our vet bills at South Glen Veterinary Clinic (account #1877).

Any help you can provide to help us offset these costs and help us find amazing forever homes for these bassets is so greatly apprecaited! 💕

🐾 Meet Pixie! 🐾

Pixie is an approximately 18-month-old, spayed female black Pug who is ready to find her forever family! She is up to date on her vaccines and is on heartworm prevention.

This adorable little girl is full of personality, energy, and plenty of sass! ❤️ Pixie is a fun-loving girl who enjoys being part of the action and loves spending time with her people.

Pixie enjoys going for walks, exploring and running in the yard, chasing toys, and wrestling and playing with other dogs. She loves meeting new people and, when playtime is over, she is more than happy to curl up beside you for some couch cuddles. She is also quite the little shadow and will happily follow you around the house. And if you have treats? Even better! 😉

Pixie is kennel trained for her safety when no one is home, although she will definitely let you know that the kennel isn't her favourite place! She can be vocal when first kenneled but does settle down with time. She sleeps wonderfully in bed at night.

Because Pixie is an energetic and rambunctious girl, she would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. A playful, energetic dog who enjoys wrestling, chasing and keeping up with her would be a wonderful match for Pixie.

🏡 Pixie will need a single-family home. Because she can be vocal when kenneled, an apartment or condo setting would not be suitable for her.

Pixie is a sweet, affectionate and entertaining little Pug with so much love to give. She is looking for a family who will appreciate her big personality, keep her active, continue working on her manners, and give her all the love she deserves. ❤️🐾

Could Pixie be the perfect addition to your family?

Re-posting as we are still searching for Gigi's forever family!

🐾 Meet Gigi! 🐾

This beautiful 6-year-old sweetheart is ready to find her forever family! 💕

Gigi is a loving, devoted girl who absolutely adores her people. Once she bonds with you, she’ll happily become your little shadow, following you from room to room and soaking up all the love and attention she can get.

She loves spending time with her humans — whether that means cozy couch cuddles or heading out for one of her favourite adventures: walks! 🐕 Gigi does well on leash and would enjoy continuing to build her confidence, especially when exploring new places like dog parks.

Don’t let her sweet side fool you — Gigi also has a playful personality! She loves a good (and sometimes very enthusiastic 😄) game of tug-of-war and will keep you smiling with her fun-loving spirit.

Gigi does well with other dogs once she has time to adjust and is wonderful with children. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet, so slow and careful introductions would be recommended if needed.

Like many dogs adjusting to change, Gigi can experience some anxiety during transitions, which may occasionally lead to accidents while she settles into a new routine. She would thrive in a patient, understanding home that can provide consistency, reassurance, and lots of love as she learns she is safe.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with affection, kisses, and endless love, Gigi may be the perfect match for you. ❤️

Update: We are no longer accepting adoption applications for Frankie as he has a home visit scheduled with a family this weekend.

🐾 Meet Frankie! 🐾

Frankie is a one-year-old neutered male French Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix who is ready to find his forever family! He is up to date on his vaccines and on heartworm prevention.

This adorable little guy is full of personality and energy! Frankie is working hard on his manners and has been learning lots from his foster family and foster fur-brother.

Frankie loves his walks and is a great little walker on leash. He enjoys meeting new people, chasing toys, wrestling and, of course, settling in for a good cuddle on the couch. ❤️

Frankie is kennel trained for when he is home alone and for bedtime, although if you let him, he would much rather sleep in bed with you!

Because Frankie is a rambunctious, energetic boy, he would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. A playful, energetic dog who enjoys playing hard and can keep up with Frankie would be an ideal companion for him.

Frankie is a fun-loving, affectionate little guy who has so much love to give. Could you be the forever family he’s been waiting for? 🐾❤️

We are sharing Gigi's advertisement again as she is still searching for her forever home.

We did receive many applications last time but unfortunately none of them were the right match, so we're trying again.

Gigi needs a home that has other dogs as she has separation anxiety and it will take her time to settle into a new home.

She also needs a fully fenced yard to play in.

Ideally someone who is home more often as well. Gigi is not a fan of a kennel so is usually gated into a smaller space with her foster sister.

Please email us at [email protected] if you would like us to send you an adoption application.

We know Gigi's family is out there, we just need to find them!

Like many dogs adjusting to change, Gigi can experience some anxiety during transitions, which may occasionally lead to accidents while she settles into a new routine. She would thrive in a patient, understanding home that can provide consistency, reassurance, and lots of love as she learns she is safe. We have recently learned that Gigi is not good with thunderstorms and will need to wear her thunder shirt and vet prescribed medications to help with her anxiety.

Gigi has not been kenneled, but this is something that could be worked on with time. She is also still working on housetraining. She will need patience and understanding during the adoption trial while she settles into your home.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with affection, kisses, and endless love, Gigi may be the perfect match for you. ❤️

Our hearts are with K9 Advocacy Manitoba as they navigate the devastating loss of a rescue volunteer. May you find peace and strength to carry on. The MB rescue community stands behind you.

Tragic Sandy Bay Dog Mauling Death

On July 17 the Manitoba RCMP received a request for assistance locating a volunteer who had attended Sandy Bay First Nation on behalf of a non-profit animal rescue organization.

Police learned that the phone of the missing volunteer was still showing in Sandy Bay. Multiple resources attended to the area and conducted neighborhood inquiries as well as utilized the Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS). The ping had a large radius which resulted in no one being located.

At approximately 6:00 AM this morning, a local maintenance worker located Amanda Nobiss
in the same area of the ping.

The cause of her death is under investigation and pending the results of a post-mortem examination, but has been reported by media as a dog attack.

The circumstances surrounding the death are not believed to be suspicious at this time. Several aggressive dogs had been observed in the area she was found.

We extend our condolences to the victim's family, friends, Sandy Bay residents, and the dog rescue community, as they deal with such a tragic loss. RIP Amanda. 💔
