The Thrive Family needs to grow again. Some of our little birdies have left the nest, so we are looking to add to our family.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 weekday day shifts available, but also able to work evening(s) and weekend day(s). We prefer either a university student or a mature worker, someone with previous pet store experience will be given priority consideration.

Most essentially, we are looking for someone outgoing, friendly, and passionate about pets. Knowledge of raw foods and natural remedies is the cherry on top, if you love those, you will fit in perfectly here.

If you fit this description, or know someone who does, and are looking for 20-30 hours a week, please drop a resume at the store.

Did you know? Catnip can have effects on canines too!

As opposed to many cats, who go crazy for the stuff, catnip can have a mild sedative effect on dogs, helping them feel cool, calm and relaxed. 😎

You can add a little catnip leaf or tea to your dogs food to help calm them before stressful events, or try some of our catnip dog toys to give them an interesting new smell to engage with (or play keep away with the cat)!

COOL CATNIP FACT: Catnip contains nepetalactone, which is 10x more powerful than DEET when it comes to repelling mosquitoes and ticks... However, it's highly volatile, which means it evaporates off your skin/pet in minutes, and requires frequent reapplication. That said, planting some catnip around where you hang out in the summer is an excellent way to keep the skeeters away!

One of the biggest topics in store, and one of the issues that gets the most improper advice for treatment. I love that this good info is getting out there.

For decades, dogs diagnosed with pancreatitis were sentenced to a lifetime of ultra-low-fat food, but emerging research is changing that conversation. 👇
What we now understand is this:
🚫 Fat alone is not the villain.
⚠️ The quality of the fat, and how suddenly it’s introduced, matters far more.
A dog eating fresh, whole-food meals with clean, unprocessed fats is very different from a dog eating ultra-processed kibble that contains rendered fat or suddenly consuming bacon grease, fried scraps, or garbage.
In fact, newer studies found that dogs recovering from pancreatitis did just as well on moderate-fat diets. Some dogs on severely fat-restricted diets developed nutrient deficiencies and liver problems.
We no longer recommend prolonged fasting either. Starving the gut can damage the intestinal lining and slow recovery. Today, we know early nutrition with small amounts of fresh, highly digestible food helps pets heal faster. 💛
Here’s what I focus on now for pancreatic recovery and prevention:
✨ Fresh, low-AGE whole foods
✨ Clean omega-3 fats (EPA/DHA)
✨ Digestive enzyme support
✨ Avoiding oxidized, processed fats
✨ Maintaining a healthy body weight
✨ Preventing “garbage gut” moments

What do you have behind that counter?! Lisa the german shepherd stopped by today and she knew right away that we keep treats behind the counter :) All dogs get a treat when they stop by (We just ask that dogs be kept on their leash and have good manners!) We will always ask if there are any allergies or sensitivies, but it's ok to remind us too. Stop by today, we are open until 6pm or tomorrow 12-5pm. We have a LARGE selection of single ingredient treats, chews and more!
