🐾⛳️ Mutts & Masters Golf Tournament⛳️🐾

This month, we were proud to have team members Dr. Sra, Andrea, Stephanie, Brittney and Crystal represent our hospital by playing and volunteering at the Canadian Animal Blood Bank Mutts & Masters Golf Tournament! 🐶

It was a fantastic day spent connecting with fellow animal lovers, enjoying some friendly competition on the course, and supporting an incredible cause 💛

A big thank you to the Canadian Animal Blood Bank for hosting such a wonderful event, and to everyone who participated and supported this amazing cause. We’re grateful to be part of a community that’s dedicated to making a difference, both on and off the golf course! ⛳️🐾

Our team had an incredible time attending the 2026 CVMA Convention in charming Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island! 🌊🍁

We were happy to support Dr. Tait and our amazing RVTs, Shey and Amber, in attending this year’s convention. Investing in continuing education is an important part of our commitment to providing exceptional care, giving our team the opportunity to expand their knowledge, explore the latest advancements in veterinary medicine, and strengthen the skills they use every day 🩺

The convention brought together veterinary professionals from across Canada for several days of learning, networking, and collaboration, with more than 80 hours of educational sessions covering a wide range of topics in veterinary medicine.

The knowledge, ideas, and inspiration gained through opportunities like this help us continue to grow as a team and ensure we provide the highest quality care for our patients and their families.

Of course, there was also time to experience the charm of PEI, making the trip both educational and memorable ❤️

We’re grateful to Dr. Tait, Shey, and Amber for embracing every opportunity to learn, grow, and bring that knowledge back to our team.

Winston with the winning smile! 🤩

Our friend Winston returned to see us unexpectedly after deciding that watermelon air freshener 🍉 would be an excellent afternoon snack—between his mom and his veterinarian, we disagreed with his choice. ❌

He received prophylactic treatment measures to prevent signs of gastrointestinal upset 🤢 and, while he was in the treatment room, he made friends with Gunjot and absolutely melted in her lap! 🥰

Come back for a visit any time, Winston! But maybe next time just for belly rubs and snacks!

Yesterday was Veterinary Appreciation Day, and we wanted to take a moment to recognize our veterinarians.

Working in emergency medicine means showing up when families are having some of their worst days. It means long hours, missed holidays, difficult conversations, and carrying the weight of cases long after a shift has ended. It also means celebrating recoveries, creating second chances, and making a difference when it matters most.

We see the care, compassion, and dedication our veterinarians bring to every patient, every client, and every member of our team. We see the extra time spent researching a case, the late nights, the early mornings, and the genuine love they have for the animals entrusted to them.

To our veterinarians—thank you. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the kindness you show, and the incredible work you do every day. We are grateful for you, proud of you, and so fortunate to have you as part of the Bridgwater family.

🌎🐾 Making a Difference in Our Community 🐾🌎

As part of our Earth Day Sustainability Pledge, members of the Bridgwater Veterinary Hospital team recently spent the morning helping to clean up our community.

Together, our team collected an incredible 40 pounds of garbage from around the community ponds and surrounding green spaces ♻️💚

We are proud to support initiatives that help keep our neighbourhood beautiful, protect local wildlife, and reduce environmental impact.

Small actions can make a big difference, and we are grateful to our team members who volunteered their time to help make our community a cleaner, healthier place for everyone.

🦟❤️ HEARTWORM SEASON IS HERE! ❤️🦟

Today’s June 1st, that means Heartworm prevention starts today 🗓️

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition spread by mosquitoes. Just ONE mosquito bite can transmit heartworm larvae to your pet.

🐶 For dogs: • Heartworms can grow up to 30 cm long and live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels 🪱
• Infection can cause coughing, exercise intolerance, heart disease, and even death • Prevention is simple, safe, and far less costly than treatment

🐱 And don’t forget about cats! • Cats can get heartworm disease too • Just ONE worm can cause severe lung disease, breathing problems, and sudden illness. • There is no treatment for heartworms in cats, making prevention especially important.

✅ Monthly prevention, such as NexGard Spectra or NexGard Combo for cats, helps protect your furry family member from heartworm disease while also controlling fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites.

📅 Heartworm prevention is most effective when given consistently and on schedule.

Meet Jordy, one of our evening and overnight Veterinary Assistants. Her love for animals goes all the way back and has been growing ever since. She's one of the first people to jump in and help when an emergency lands, no hesitation. Whether that means getting a history, restraining, grabbing supplies or comforting the pet while we do our best to stabilize. If she isn't busy with a patient, she's helping clean, restock the hospital, make surgical packs and more! When she has down time you can find her comforting an in hospital pet, giving them some much needed love and cuddles while they recover. She is truly an important asset and without her, the nights wouldn't go as smoothly. We are all truly grateful to work with such a dedicated and loving person.
