Crescentwood Small Dog Play Group

Crescentwood Small Dog Play Group A small dog playgroup for dogs under 30lbs who would like to play with others the same size. Become a groupie and join the play!

We have been running our small dog playgroup for over 5 years and during that time we have had the opportunity to play with over 350 dogs! The Crescentwood Small Dog Playgroup runs within the boundaries of Pembina Hwy west to Kenaston Blvd. We have been fortunate to work closely with community centers in our area who have supported indoor and outdoor play environments for our small dogs. We welcome all small dog owners from across the city you don't have to live in our area to participate!

Hey Groupues fill this out. Last question about bylaw changes please refer to the animal care act that refuses to identify what a small dog is. We want off leash sites in our neighborhoods.

We’re updating Winnipeg’s zoning by-laws. Zoning shapes our neighbourhoods—how buildings look, where shops and services go, and how streets and public spaces feel. It sets the rules for how land and buildings can be used and developed. Winnipeg has two zoning

Finally!

Today is a good day for animals in Manitoba.

Bill 19 has officially passed, bringing stronger animal welfare laws, increased penalties for cruelty, more authority for inspectors, and greater accountability for people who neglect or abuse animals.

No law is perfect, and there is still work ahead, especially for northern and Indigenous communities that continue to face barriers to veterinary care and animal services. But stronger legislation gives us more tools to protect animals and hold people accountable.

Real change happens when education, access to veterinary care, responsible ownership, enforcement, and strong laws work together.

Today, Manitoba’s government took an important step toward better protection for animals.

Thank you to everyone who spoke up, shared their experiences, and helped make animal welfare a priority!!!!

The legislation includes:

• Licensing requirements for people who sell or transfer pet animals, unless exempted by regulation.

• Increased penalties for animal cruelty offences, including fines of up to $100,000 for repeat offenders and potential jail time.

• Stronger authority for inspectors and courts dealing with animal welfare cases.

• The ability to incorporate recognized animal welfare standards, codes, and guidelines into regulations.

• Expanded court orders for situations where owners have more animals than they can properly care for.

The regulations and exemptions have not yet been released and will determine how some of these changes are applied.

We broke Dolly out of the pound after she spent 10 days going unclaimed! She's one of three small breed dogs 🐾 in our care right now - something we're seeing more and more of at the pound and on our surrender list.

Dolly is between 2-3 years old and is a spunky girl. She's at the vet today to get spayed, shaved down and to have a tooth removed. We'll also be updating all of her vaccines and doing a general exam. 😮‍💨

It seems we can't bring a new intake in that doesn't need a little extra work.

If you're interested in Dolly, please reach out to [email protected] - we're having ongoing issues with our adoption pages on our website.

If you'd like to help Dolly start her new life on the best track, you can donate on our website or by e-transfer!
