Dog Nerd

Happy Thanksgiving Day.

I’ll be back in the office on Tuesday. I’ll be spending today being grateful for all that I have.

We have puppy mills and back yard breeders right here in Manitoba. Please don’t support them.

Look for an ethical breeder or rescue.

Don’t know the difference? Let me know, and I can help you out.

This one’s important, and I don’t want it buried in the comments of our other post. I’m sick of hearing- I knew they were unethical, but I bought or adopted from them anyway, because I really wanted the dog.

If you buy a dog from a puppy mill or unethical breeder or even adopt from a rescue who buys dogs from these sources, that means that YOU personally and financially support animal abuse and neglect. You are not “saving lives” you are contributing to the continued abuse and neglect of other dogs. If this is unclear to you, please know that- YOU ARE PAYING PEOPLE TO ABUSE ANIMALS.

Puppy mills stay in business because the public is funding them. Read 👏 That 👏 Again 👏

Please do better. PEROID.

This is so scary!

Just a reminder to get your dogs (and cats) vaccinated, and to keep the vaccinations up to date.

Rabies is fatal for dogs.

If you check out the comments, someone mentions that in another case, a horse was tested positive for rabies.

In testing an animal for rabies, the animal will lose their life, as the brain is sent off for testing.

Horrific, but preventable. Follow your veterinarian’s advice, and have your pets vaccinated on schedule.

Hi- this happened a few days ago, at a very popular state park here in Maryland. People bring their dogs there all the time. Still think rabies vaccines aren’t necessary?

Sadly, it’s wildfire season again.

Please keep your animals safe from the smoke.

With wildfire smoke creating poor air quality across the U.S, the AVMA is reminding the public that wildfire smoke can pose serious health risks not only to people, but to pets and livestock as well.

Smoke from wildfires contains fine particles that can cause respiratory issues in animals, especially those with pre-existing heart or lung disease. Pet owners should keep a close eye on their animals during poor air quality events and contact their veterinarian if any of the following signs appear. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4wqddp3

The first day of summer? Bring it!

There’s no better time to be out with our dogs, whether it’s walking trails, camping, swimming, playing frisbee, or training outside.

Get out and do it!

What’s your favourite summer activity with your dog?
Let is know in the comments!

Happy May long weekend!

We got some disc in before the snow started. What would our May Long be without some cold weather?

Bundle up, turn the heat back on, and have some fun with your dogs!
