NO PAIN. NO CORRECTIONS. ONLY RESPECT. 🐾

Respect-based training starts with understanding the dog in front of you—their communication, emotions, and individual needs.

It means teaching with clarity, rewarding progress, and helping dogs build confidence without fear, intimidation, or punishment.

At The Wooftopia Institute of Canine Care (WICC), we’re teaching the next generation of dog trainers to put these principles into practice. Our Respect-Based Canine Training Certification combines canine behaviour education, hands-on learning, and the skills to support both dogs and their humans.

Want to turn your passion for dogs into a career grounded in respect? Message us to learn more about WICC. 💙

Every Partnership Begins with Respect.

Hey, I’m Dez! 🐾

I am the owner and head trainer at Wooftopia Dog Training and Recreation Centre, and Kali and Mayhem’s human. I have recently founded a new respect-based dog trainer education program, The Wooftopia Institute of Canine Care (WICC).

For over a decade, I’ve helped dogs and their humans build skills, confidence, and trust in one another. My approach is respect-based: teaching with positive reinforcement, paying attention to how dogs communicate, and making room for the individual needs of both dogs and their humans.

I love helping people understand their dogs and strengthen the relationship they share—and through WICC, I’m sharing that experience with the next generation of dog trainers.

Beyond dog training, I love working with and learning about new animals, and I’m a creative soul who usually has an art project on the go and my dogs close by. 💛

Whether you’re here for help with your dog, curious about becoming a trainer, or just getting to know me—I look forward to meeting you!

🐾 EVER THOUGHT ABOUT BECOMING A DOG TRAINER?

After training dogs for over a decade, I’m taking a big new step. Wooftopia has partnered with The Black Dragon K9 Dezign Institute to create the Wooftopia Institute of Canine Care and its Respect-Based Canine Training Certification.

“Respect-based” is more than a course title to me. It’s how I work with dogs: paying attention to how they communicate, teaching (and learning) with positive reinforcement, and building skills through trust rather than fear or intimidation.

I created this hands-on path for people who want to learn how to train dogs and understand the dogs in front of them. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with the next generation of trainers.

Curious about the program or ready to apply? Send me a DM, email [email protected], or text 204-223-0299 (text only). I’d love to hear from you. 💜🐕
