October is RVT Month 💙 and we couldn't let it pass without saying thank you.

To every Registered Veterinary Technician we work alongside: you prepare and position patients, help with sedation and monitoring, keep cases and records organized, and guide us through busy treatment rooms, all on top of your own full days. When Paw Prints rolls into a clinic, there's usually an RVT making the magic... and managing the chaos. 🐾

We're lucky to have two RVTs on our own team, too. Amy Bond wears more hats than we can count, from veterinary coordination and triage to ECGs and our Holter monitoring program. Jenessa Beatty brings deep cardiac and veterinary knowledge as both a cardiac sonographer and an RVT.

Thank you, Amy, Jenessa, and every RVT we work with each day. We couldn't do it without you!

What happens when the heart you're trained to scan has one less ventricle? 🦎

Meet Zeus, a bearded dragon with two atria and one ventricle. Nothing like the dog and cat hearts we scan every day.

We studied the anatomy beforehand. But once the probe went down, the ultrasound looked nothing like the textbook diagram.

So we worked it out the way sonographers do: valve movement, probe orientation, blood flow direction, Doppler, and a lot of spatial reasoning. Sometimes sonography takes two brains.

Ultrasound isn't just recognizing a picture. We're imaging 3D anatomy in 2D, and every tilt of the probe changes the plane we're looking through.

Textbook anatomy gives us the map. The patient gives us the image.

It's Sonographer Week 💙

And with the launch of our new Paw Prints website, it feels like the perfect time to reintroduce the people behind the ultrasound probe.

Our sonographers are at the heart of what we do. Every day, they travel from clinic to clinic, work alongside veterinary teams, adapt to patients of every size and temperament, and capture the diagnostic images that help veterinarians get the answers they need.

Veterinary ultrasound takes far more than knowing how to operate a machine. It takes skill, patience, curiosity, continuing education and thousands of scans worth of experience.

We're incredibly proud of the team we've built at Paw Prints, and of how much they continue to learn, grow and push themselves in this field.

What a weekend! 🐾 BarkFest 2026 was two full days of wagging tails, curious noses, and so many of you stopping by to say hi. Our Paw Prints Calm K9 Corner stayed busy helping good pups mellow out on a big, buzzing day — plus lots of catching up with familiar faces (and meeting a whole lot of new ones) at the booth.

Huge thanks to everyone who came by, asked questions, and let their pups take a breather with us — and to the whole BarkFest crew for putting on such a great event. We had so much fun. Already looking forward to next year! 🐶💙
